I myself am off to afghanistan soon supporting the RAF in Kandahar and i know how important it is to have some mail/parcels from home.

    Good luck and take care.

Remember to let us know if you know of anyone that may need some mail from home. I'm sure there will be some of us more than willing to drop them a line now we know what to do!

  • Thans to emma_b for this- great. If you don't want to send an e-bluey to those of the list, if you log in there is a link that will take you to a penpal site. Its affiliated with e-blueys, you can send messages to soldiers worldwide. The list is men/women and you can choose an age range.

    Hi all

I thought this was such a great idea..... so I have created a yahoo group called forcespenpals.

My aim is for people to use this group to get penpals; obviously its going to take a while to get going so I need help!

Can everyone in the forces please pass the word about this group. They can post a few details about themselves on the site and wait for the offers of penpals to come rolling in!

Can anyone that has a forces penpal already please let them know about it so they can pass details to their mates?!

Also if you are interested in getting a forces paypal, please register so that as and when we get the word out, I have people ready to respond to their requests!

    Does that all make sense??

    Cheers
    Kit (aka jaidxx on yahoo)

to anyone who has used ebluey before, do we get letters printed or do we get them as emails on the ebluey site?

i started this thread to recruit more penpals but i only actually started writing myslef last week so im a newbie to it all too and i keep getting asked quetions that i cant answer!

Any E-Blueys sent to you in the UK will be printed off in the UK and put in the post so you'll get a letter through your letter box (basically they're printed in the destination country & posted there). Sometimes it can take less than 24 hours from typing & sending at one end to receiving at the other but othertimes it can take a few days - depends on how busy the lines of comminication are I spose.

My OH is off on Sunday (his birthday :( ) so I've just stocked up on Blueys from the post office. I Know how great it is to receive a Bluey when I'm stuck in the UK so it must be even nicer to receive one when you're far from home, so well done to everyone that's been writing :)
