Orange calls to voicemail iphone network problem
Options
Hi,
I have an iphone and baout 80% of calls go direct to voicemail. Apparently due to the Orange network being overloaded and they can not cope.
Suggestion is to turn off 3G as its when you are on 3G that calls are often given low priority compared to data so if the network is busy they got to voicemail prompting an immeidate missed call SMS.
Sounds crazy but its what Orange have said and is reproted elsewhere after searching for a solution.
Any suggestions or anyone had any experience and a result. Is there anythign else obvious to try as no point having a smart phone on 2g network!
Thanks
Rich

When the 3g network gets busy it prioritises data over voice calls because thats how it was designed, whereas 2g prioritises voice. I think the network is running over capacity at the moment especially in London, the number of smartphones Orange have sold in the past 12 months is a factor, but there is work underway to improve capacity, plus the network merger with TMobile is coming soon which should further alleviate any problems0
