What's the job title and what does it entail?

I don't want to go into too much detail, of course, but its quite a technical, managerial, role, and needs specific experience.

I think we should send Graham up there to get to the bottom of all this. When he's finished with them they'll have no idea how many people applied, what the job was or if they even own a shop.

While he's there can he get me 5 litres of tartan coloured paint, and a left handed paintbrush.

So about 4000 people were unsuitable. Something does not add up here.

I'm not sure either but from my own experience of putting a P/T job ad in W1 on Gumtree (concession managers idea, not mine) I can believe he had 3500 apps and the majority not suitable.

I put an ad on @ 11.30pm and put our brand, hours (16), pay (£7 ph + bonus) and location. The replies started pouring in straight away and I opened them until midnight. Next day @ 8am I had over 250 and deleted the ad.....and still they came. So, I sifted throughte insomniacs and early risers apps to get a shortlist of 10 for an initial 'phone interview. A few googled us and 'phoned, with one who kept saying 'job, want job' and Oh had to give up on the call.

If he had posted the ad and left it on for a few days then 3500 is realistic.

90% were overseas students and from those, 90% were male. Not stating this for any reason other than I noticed it as I thought I would get more female applicants.

I also spotted multiple apps in my short batch (sending their reply 5 times) but I can understand why they did that.

I got a fab staff member in the end from the final edit but wouldn't ever use Gumtree again.

I have a design asst intern post advertised at the moment (unpaid internship for 4 weeks) and the inbox is currently filling rapidly despite being on a niche education site...and zero wages.

I'd be wary of his silver tongue Pastures. Especially after what happened to Julieq.
    What happened to Julieq?

    I am technical.
I can manage to turn up on time.
Mine's a cheese and pickle roll if anybody's going.
    I definitely have specific experience.

No wonder you can't get people if you can't/won't/don't tell them what the job is :)

Exactly. What did happen to Julieq. Haven't seen her around for a while. She and I had a thing going for a while too.

Well anyway, she was sweet on me. That's what everyone said.
