many thanks for replies and input, i have a disc which we bought so hopefully can put it back on, but looked in my recycle bin and its empty?. i think i am going to buy a thing from asda that will store all the files on so i might then redo the computor to the way i bought it cos i know i will prob get the message that its full again if i put word and excel back on, but i will try the other one thats free!! thanks0 -

i took advice and downloaded open office and everything seems to be working ok been able to do letters and save to relevant folder so many thanks

Open some of your other documents, to make sure they work ok, you don't want to find a problem someday when you need in to them urgently, though I'm sure they'll be fine.
I've been using it for a couple of years now and no problems.
