Hi everyone - weather miserable here again - been raining heavy for hours now, it's like winter outside so I'm making MRSMC's Corned Beef Hash, haven't had this in ages and really looking forward to it, love making this as you get enough left over to make a Corned Beef Pie, also saved some of the stock in the initial boiling of the veg that can be used next time I make some Soup.;)
This is quite filling so no Pud needed tonight. Off now to lay the table - have a good evening everyone.:D"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

Hello all
Looking forward to The Great British Waste programme tonight
We are still wa-ay under budget. DD went out for lunch with friends yesterday to an all you can eat Chinese so I added £5 on to my spends for that as I paid and it was a spur of teh moment thing and she would have been eating at home. We are off camping a bit more Southernly than us for the Bk Hol weekend - hope the weather improves!! I will take a few things (tins, cereals, crisps) but will buy some stuff there. Sat night we are going to pub - our anniversary tomorrow and friend's bday today, so that will be entertainment budget. Any other eating out will be from GC budget though... May mean we get reasonably close, but we do have the leeway for once!
I am going to reduce our budget next month - haven't quite figured out what to yet, but our freezer is so full that I'm taking a load of stuff to a relly's house later to freeze (glut of f&v) so really need to use some of it up. (I can see me living on ratatouille for the whole of Sept to make an inroad!! ) Also, any saving s I make on GC next month will go to mtge - I'd like to put some extra on itAnd then, of course, it's almost time to be thinking about the December event - I may buy some dried fruits next month ready for cakes....
(hugs) to anyone needing them. Almost time for a new month....I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Good evening everyone,
hugs to those who need them. Sometimes it seems as if you are swimming against the tide but hopefully things will improve for you all.
Thanks for sympathy re freezer debacle. The bright side is I was able to throw all the bits and pieces that had been there too long, in the bin, without a guilty conscience. I also managed to give it a total defrost and clean. So every cloud .....
The down side is it will cost plenty to refill it but I will do it a bit at a time as I hunt down the whoopsies.
Best of luck to all with last week of challenge. It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!0 -
Spent £13.40 between netto, iceland and farmfoods. Hopefully will come in under budget - for once!
new month starts friday so I'm contemplating doing a month on line shop instead of weekly, which will at least save delivery charges. Now we have the extra counter top freezer I think we could manage storing it.
Need to cut down if possible as we had to use the credit card this month againMum, wife and dinnerlady!0 -
Evening All,
Ok, that's it, first time since March the budget is well and truly blown. I went to MrM today (I'm so cheesed off with MrT prices recently that I refused to go there ) and spent a massive total of £76.72!!! This puts our total for the month at £297.30!!!
So why am I not crying over this? :undecided Well, firstly, I've been predicting this since the start of the month - there was no way OH would manage to organise a party and buy the booze for it within the budget.Secondly, I made the truly stupid decision to start including the kittens specialist food cost in this month.
And thirdly and most importantly, since being on here your wonderful advice :A has meant that I have a full spreadsheet outlining all spends. Using that spreadsheet I can see that the 'culprit' is the party shop of £69.68 which if deducted from our total brings me within budget even if I leave the kitten food in. :T
So I'm not going to get het up about it at all. We will need to get a couple of fresh bits on the weekend probably but I will attempt to keep the total spend below £12. That way even though we've spent more than the budget we haven't really spent more iyswim.
And I don't intend being 50 again! :rotfl:
Btw, in MrM they have the 20 wash bottles of Persil S&M on the front of the aisles at a theoretical 'trial' price. However, on the wash stuff aisle proper, they have the original size that I bought months ago of 42 wash for £4.50 which is far far far better value. They also have the Surf S&M in 42 wash size for £4 on special offer. They have the 12 sachet boxes of Whiskas cat food (£3.45) at buy 2 for a fiver which I thought was pretty good. The offer price on the Typhoo 240 bags seemed good as well so I stocked up with a box of those too. We both have a sweet tooth and buy a fair bit of sugar so the kilo bags of sugar (98p) at 2 for £1.30 was a cracking buy. Most of the offers seem to be ending on Sunday but I don't know if these are UK wide or just local. Hope that helps someone.
Ok off to watch the gogglebox again. Have a great evening.
Take care,

Hippeechiq - Got to be stricter with myself next month. so myself and I need to have harsh words with each other :rotfl:
This really made me smile! And also your comment Greent of the "December event" rather than the dreaded "C" or "x" word! (Sorry can't double quote!)
Had a couple of NSDs (well grocery wise at least). No, actually thats a lie! I've just remembered that I spent £1 the other day on a bottle of Pepsi. Could have been worse as I had no wine or coke in so this was the cheapest option for a drink in the evening! Will update signature in a minute.
That's me done for August. Need to go food shopping tomorrow but thats for my September. Well done to everyone who has or is about to meet target this month and for those like me who haven't, then maybe September will be THE month!Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan0 -

Spent £2.50 on milk on Sunday, then another £39.67 in Morrisons today, including a big bag of red onions, which I use a lot of for 90p and a loaf of bread for 50p. I had a shock when the total was over £60, as it had taken me over budget, but then I remembered that I had about £15 of flowers and a bottle of wine, which didn't need to be counted so panic over, lol! I don't think I'll need to go shopping again before the end of the month, apart from milk and cat food, so hopefully I should make it.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs
