    Hi all,
This is great! Finally got round to finding it at start of month, have never done it before but am going to try it in August! A Q: as both me and OH spend on groceries, what do you find is the best way to stick to a budget? My OH is, shall we say, challenged by the idea of only buying what's on a list... Would it be good to draw cash out and have a groceries pot we both use? Thanks for ideas!

Wow, I'm a little late, but I'm in for August for £200 so I might make this target! Thanks for starting the thread - my challenge starts from 1st August so I'll see you then :)

carolinerunner I am changing mine this month as my OH is back home. I will be putting the money in a wallet at the start of the month, and anything being bought has to come out of this and the receipt put in. My Oh's problem is fizzy pop and bread, he loves buying bread, even though he makes fabulous bread himself - nutter. But he will be well warned this time.

Thanks jackie, sounds like a good idea. If I don't keep the spending in check, it won't happen! Please put us down (cringe) for £600 this month, as we will be in Berlin for a few days which isn't going to be cheap, I feel sure... I feel embarrassed at it being so much, I'm determined it will come down.
  • Thanks to everyone who runs this thread.

OMG - I have just added up my receipts for the last couple of days plus the £6 that I had carried over from last month and I am already at £238.99 against a target of £450 for the month! Been to Morrisons, Tescos, Co Op, Iceland, Farm Foods, Bargain Booze and the market. I am really stocked up but its not looking good is it when my month only started on the 26th!

Will sort my signature out tomorrow.

Could you put me down for £550 this month please. I know that seems a lot compared with some peoples but we do a lot of entertaining for dh's job and that's all included as well as takeaways, alcohol, cleaning, petfood etc.

    Morning

Thank you to Pink-winged, Mrs M and Rosieben for running the thread and please could you put me down for £400 for August.

I've decided I will carry over my overspend from last month (£55.38 as of today - hopefully that's it!) so it's going to be tight but I'm feeling quite determined (as distinct from very determined :o).

I'll declare on Sat night and good luck to everybody for August!
