Morning all!
Been to Mr S to do most of the shopping for the coming week (earlier than normal as we have visitors for the weekend - grrr!) and managed to spend £29.99.
I still need to get a few extra bits for packed lunches for OH next week but will leave these until Sunday/Monday to make sure that they last the week.
About £5 of the total was spent on treats and extras for visitors - cookies, frothy coffee etc - I hate spending money on stuff like this as we don't normally buy them but needs must I suppose.
Anyway, I'm off and running for August...................................0 -

Mrs M, please can you put me down for £41.22 this month.
I have decided that if I overspend one month then I must take it from the next month otherwise it's easy just to keep overspending. Because there was such a big overspend in July what I have done is taken £10 from September's budget for August otherwise I will be trying to exist on not much so it evens out over August and September.
My first shop of the month was a horrifying £11.43! Even with buying whoopsied veg I am finding it very difficult to keep to my preferred healthy eating plan on my £50 a month. I will have a go at reworking my usual menus to see if I can reduce cost without losing nutrients. I don't eat meat or dairy and I eat wholegrains rather than pasta and white rice because of the higher nutrient value.
Thanks to all who run the thread and good luck to everyone for keeping to budget in August.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0 -
Hi
Can i join please?
My grocery shopping is getting better but still some way to go. £80 for August for 2 people but that's only for 2 weeks as we're on our jolly holidays the other half of the month :j0 -
Thanks for the new thread. Please could you put me down for £80 again in august.
Found July a bit of a struggle as went a bit mad in the 1st 2 weeks which left me only a couple of £'s for the remainder of the month. But i didn't succumb, i relied on the freezer, cupboards and fruit/veg from Mum & Dad's allotment.
I've now set up another spread sheet to break down my shopping bills into categories eg meat & fish, Fruit & veg etc so i get a better idea of what i'm spending on and how often (even done some snazzy little pie charts. Get me!:rotfl:). It seems to be that fresh fruit & veg is accounting for about 3rd of my monthly budget, so looks like more scrounging off the folks allotment!"A bargain is something you can't use at a price you can't resist." first shop of the month was done on monday and a bit today (when we home from holiday) so £59.56 spent.Mum, wife and dinnerlady!0

This seems to work for us at present, although I did overspend last month.

Does anyone have any ideas for cheap lunches to take to work?
I am thoroughly bored of my pasta with sauce/ham sandwich, so much so that today and yesterday I resorted to buying it from Mr S which was naughty.
I don't tend to have any leftovers, as the dog muches anything that me and OH don't manage to finish!Mortgage£148,725 Student loan£13,050 HSBC loan£12,221
