I've never spent this little 5 days in before!!! And I still have enough bread/ milk for a couple of days!!!

We're off for a picnic tomorrow - I'm hoping not to buy anything for it except icecreams whilst out - but that means I need to make some sort of cake/ biscits in the morning first.

I have a massive glut of courgettes. I've grated and frozen some for bolognaise/ lasagne and chunked/ frozen some for chilli/ casseroles. I've also made 2 chocolate courgette cakes (now eaten) and potato/ courgette rosti type things and eaten them every which way! I will make some ratatouille over the weekend, grill/ freeze some for pasta sauce, make some courgette and tomato soup (yummy) and maybe another cake and some raisin/ courgette muffins - I might have used the ones in my fridge then - just in time for the next batch to be ready to be harvested!!! :D

I've also got a glut of runner and French beans.... and am expecting a glut of tomatoes (yum) All this is Good!

Waiting to pick the other half up after work, went picking wild raspberries and got over 1.2 kilo :T
Got some sugar after work to make jam - only £1, bargain for 2 big jars of jam (first time making it, seems to have gone ok). Got some more milk and kitchen towel too... £3.60 altogether today.
  • I've been very restrained this week having so far spent £79.73-still a couple of things to get which are on my list as Mr T didn't have them at good prices. thought they were rather expensive when I went the other day.
So all I can think of is loo rolls on bogof at the Co-op and whatever is left I will spend on petrol as Im off to Weston Super Mare on Monday for a day trip which means I ummm may spend more than intended! Never mind-one low week to start the month is a big help.

    Morning all

Spent just under £10 yesterday on T-bags, choc mousse, skinless sausages, rolls, meusli, spaghetti, and bananas.

Should be able to eat out of the freezer today - just need milk and marg so will update sig later.

I couldn't find any deals on T-bags yesterday in the local shops and I'm starting to resent paying for them. In the end (having decided against shoplifting!:rotfl:) I got T*sco own brand £1.40 for 80 bags (didn't sell anything bigger). I know this is still under 2p a cup but tea seems to be creeping up. I'm not ready to give it up yet but I don't really need tea and it set me thinking about what I could do without if it came to it!
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.

My lemons (and my oranges) (and limes come to think of it) grow mould if I keep them anywhere for longer than a week. :( I always keep them in the fridge, and they only have to touch something else and they turn blue and furry.

Oh no! Just made a lemon drizzle cake a few days ago with some lemons that have been in the fridge for nearly a month! Think mine would petrify before they got fuzzy .....

They're cooling now and then I'm playing jenga with the freezer to fit it all in:rotfl:Wish me luck! I dont think I'll be shopping for a while....

Every cloud, eh? Least you weren't asked to cook it all and bring it back :rotfl:

    Morning all-

Should probably be a NSD, I do need to get milk, but that's it and may well wait until tomorrow. Have at least meal planned through the weekend so it buys me a few days to get next weeks in order. Enjoy your day!
  • Good morning everyone,
still managing to avoid supermarkets for recreational shopping although did go to gardencentre yesterday and spent £5 on tulip bulbs. Justified this by deciding they will feed my soul for many years to come. Will look forward to them in the spring after another long scottish winter.

Have taken bacon and potato scones out of freezer for tonights tea. Will have with fried egg so cheap and cheerful tonight.
It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!

  • Morning All,

Updated sig below with Wed's spend of £4.50 for load of thick bread, 2 pints milk and pack of smoked salmon for my brekkies! not too bad this week, had an NSD yesterday as ate at Mum's :)

Have just remembered that I give my OH £10 a week for food/misc allowance, so I have included that in my calculations. I know it sounds harsh but I've had no choice but to take away his Debit card for a while, as he cannot be trusted not to spend secretly on food! In June he spent £82 on snacks over the month, despite us buying packed lunch items, and I had no idea until i checked the statements! It seems to have done the trick though...

    rablovesroo

    Total spend = 101.39/250
    Total NSDs = 3/15

Went to Morrisons yesterday for a few essentials, (including bread 30p and milk 50p) and spent £30.16 on groceries, but including a few items that I don't count in the grocery budget, the total spend was £36.30, it was a bit annoying therefore that I couldn't get everything I wanted, as some items were out of stock, because I had a voucher for £5 off a £40 spend and I would have been able to use it if they'd had the other items!
