Did the weekly shop yesterday and spent £11.69. Bought some things I wouldn't normally such as a bottle of water which I shall need for a barbecue I'm going to at the weekend along with ingredients for making my contribution to the meal.

I was pleased with my whoopsie haul on salad and veg which will keep me going all week as without it my spend would have been much, much higher.

Lemons : - they should last a fair while in the fridge.Or you could make cordial with them, or just zest and juice them and freeze for another day.

My lemons (and my oranges) (and limes come to think of it) grow mould if I keep them anywhere for longer than a week. :( I always keep them in the fridge, and they only have to touch something else and they turn blue and furry.

    hi everyone

My SIL had a disaster yesterday, she discovered she had turned off her freezer and everything was defrosting.I got a call to come and see what I could take off her. OMG the amount of stuff piled up on the kitchen table was incredible and she'd stuffed her fridge with things she could use in the next few days! I ended up with 4 carrier bags and since yesterday afternoon I've been cooking my little socks off. Whole chicken, chicken breasts, duck breasts, tiger prawns, mince, sausages, venison, lamb, chicken livers, venison burgers, chops I've cooked em all! They're cooling now and then I'm playing jenga with the freezer to fit it all in:rotfl:Wish me luck! I dont think I'll be shopping for a while....

    £9.87 spent in Tesco today.

Got 2 bags of their frozen stirfry veg mix (it's fab!), a bag of potatoes, 2 blocks of cheese which were BOGOF (might grate and freeze one) and a multipack of crisps for lunches. I also got a big bag of crisps as I wanted them :p and a bar of chocolate to share with everyone at work as we all seemed to be having a particularly bad afternoon!

One of my colleagues also gave me a cucumber as she had been given 3 from someone growing them and can't eat them quickly enough. I think it'll be cheese and cucumber sandwiches for lunches next week!

Late joining this Month and not been on for a while so can't declare for July. Too complicated to go into the details.

Anyway, rosieben, pinkwinged and MRSMC, thanks for getting us going again and keeping us on the straight and narrow - MRSMC please put me down again for £250 for August.

Have spent a little and updated my total, made a meal-plan after checking cupboards and freezers and also using stuff from the Garden and Allotment so hoping to come in well under this month and will put any money saved towards Xmas. Can't believe I'm thinking of that already but anyone who knows me will remember that I always start making my Xmas puds, mincemeat etc the week that the kids go back to School so I've got Xmas at the back of my mind already.:o

Hope you are all doing well and I promise to be more involved again.;)

Had to go shopping today and bill came to £34.51 so that brings total to £39.70 already this month. Did have to stock up on F&V though and had ran out of loo roll. Took DS2 with me (as always) and he was brill. After picking some items up, like orange squash, he would pick up another cheaper one and say 'this one's fine mum'. He is a good little bargain hunter - even peered into the bargain/reduced section and then offered to pay for my fave ice lollies so I could have a treat (cost £1). Have planned meals now til the end of the week and still have things in the freezer to last a while longer so hopefully will only have everyday essentials to buy next week!:j

Well it was all going so well..............until I accidentally fell into the M&S foodhall.:o

Managed to spend £8 (could have been a lot worse) on salad stuff, chicken for sandwiches, a bag of crisps and 3 for 2 individual desserts (2 of which have already been scoffed, not both by me!)

At least I was under budget by £15 this week and don't need anything tomorrow - leaving me £7 under my unofficial budget of £45 for the week.

I must try harder,,,,,, I must try harder.

Please put me down for £425 for August. I have £120 left till 20th when I get paid but this would then make September a 6 week month so really need to get 3 weeks worth out of this! We are on holiday for a week starting 23rd.

I have meal planned up to next Friday and have 80% of what I need in;) Kiddies off to Nannies for a few days the week before our hol so that should reduce costs a bit as they are eating for England at the moment!

    wish me luck

Today should have been an NSD, but then the window cleaner turned up !!
Although this isn't part of my GC budget, I only count a day as an NSD if I don't spend anything - including D/Debits for household bills.

So I decided "to heck with it" and went shopping.....

As well as spending £34.20 on liquid gold for the car (also, thankfully, not part of my GC budget) I managed to spend £13.50 on groceries.

Of this £3.30 went on Whoopsies with shelf values of £13.53
And a further £5.60 was on ingredients to make several different versions of Twinks Hobnobs rolleyes2.gif

So only £4.60 of the £13.50 was really "planned" grocery spending !!!!
