Very cheap deals because of Orange system error

Options
Just in case anyone is on Orange, uses their phone a lot and is thinking of upgrading.

I now pay £35 per month for 2550 minutes, anytime any network, and unlimited texts.

The story from the agent was that this was meant to be set up as off peak but someone entered it wrongly into their billing system. You have to say you are disconnecting, which means you get put through to the sales team which has the best deals (rather than if you say you want an upgrade, in which case you get put through to a sales team with rubbish deals).

Working as a contractor at another mobile operator for the last few months I can see exactly how this happens! Since the agents aren't commissioned on this tariff they can get away with selling it until it is spotted and corrected on the system.

Hopefully someone else will benefit from Orange's generosity!

Sadly no.. Magic number must be personal phone number managed by Orange UK.

    Picked from http://www1.orange.co.uk/service_plans/magicnumbers_terms.html

    "
A Magic Number can only be a personal phone number managed by Orange UK on the Orange Mobile UK network or the Orange UK Broadband Access network as part of the Wireless & Talk Service. On entry of a Magic Number, Orange will check to ensure that this Orange number is within the Orange number ranges and not one that has been excluded.

  • I got the same deal as OP.

Not sure if it was error or not but I think this is just created to retain customers.

Its called "2000 Minutes Loyalty Reward 18", it is genuinly Anytime / Any Netowrk. Magic number calls (3hours / day max) are in addition to that.

You will only get this extra 2000 minutes if
    • You say that you are getting 1000+ minutes from somewhere else and thinking to leave Orange
    • You take 18 Months contract
    • Spend atleast £35
    • at least £45 for some old contracts

Call 150 then option 1,4,3 (Direct to retentions)

Thats just my experience of talking about this deal with Orange for about 4 upgrades. Old Offpeak 1000 users are likely to get this deal, while Your Plan 30+ users are likely to get 2900 minutes in £45.

jonlgore - i got offered the same contract 2 weeks ago - but i declined as they didn't offer the free broadband with that offer plus there is no way i would need so many minutes - i only use about 200-250/month

Webkami did you get a phone with the upgrade, I have been offered the same plan, I wanted a e900 or Nokia 6233, they will give one of the phones for £99. I want to see if I can get the phone cheaper or for free. I still have a few weeks left on my contract and was thinking if I called them up when I am out of contract I might get a better offer, I have given them 30 days notice and they have sent me a PAC code.
    What do you think?
    Nearly debt free

    Yes I got the phone.

SPV M3100 (retails around 350 - 400) and I had to pay £60 for that.
Was also offered K800i for £40.

Start your bargain with saying you are being offered (your fav phone) from (another network) for (your desired price) with double minutes for contract life.

    I used O2's current promotion

"Being offered K800i for £30/month with 1500 minutes(double as advertised) if I leave Orange."

    Wish you luck....
