Fuel Save - earn up to 20p off each litre as you shop during one month and use the value saved in the next month on your fuel.

By 22 August we had 16pence saved towards our fuel bill to be used in September. When we bought fuel that day at our local Tesco service station the assistant took that 16p off the bill. That meant we couldn't add any more in August up to the 20p allowed. It wasn't noticed until we got home and just glanced at the bill.

So then, it is possible for their computerised tills to accept this discount in the wrong month. This is not in the rules. We are told to collect Fuel Save points in one month and use them in the next.

We have managed to earn another 7p by today, 30 Aug, to spend in September, but if we still had our 16p's worth we would have been able to get the full 20p a litre off our fuel in September. Should I write to Tesco and tell them about this?

Car packed up yesterday,[new water pump and belt needed]so I can't get to use expiring discount as planned tmrw. I intend asking for it to be c/f, in these circs.

    Good luck to us both.

I've resized it - to stop getting eye-strain.
Are you saying that you spent a large amount in August to accumulate a large fuel-save value to use by the end of Sept., yet previously you spent so little to not have any to use by the end of August!?
Now it's possible that you travel so much you used the August amount earlier? In which case, you will probably fill up again to use what's left of September i.e. £0.06 (it's always in multiples of 2p).

The Fuel Save works by using the first amount available, moreover two months cannot be combined. So currently you would use the up to the end of August, then next month the end of September. As quoted on your last receipt from a Tesco store.

  • Well. I have never read of any posts being resized and for such a silly reason too! Do excuse me, but there was nothing wrong with the font I used or the spacing. Never mind. Let it ride.
    :)

The full Fuel Save amount of 20p, and more, is possible to earn by many drivers with grandchildren and going on holiday having a motorhome too as well as a car, so it is no surprise that the amount of 20p, and more, can be earned in a month, as we do.

The till receipt clearly says which month the Fuel Save is meant for and the till operator should not have used our September amount in August. Quite simple really. He made the error and we have lost out on the full value of saving 20p off in September.

On the website it clearly states that we have the option of building up the amount each month, so why would we want to use it up before then? No, we didn't ask him to deduct the 16p per litre on that day in August.

We had already used up our August spend which was earned in July, and that was also 16p, and it showed the amount was for use in August. The September amount was earned during August for use in September, not August. That is clear now.

Sorry to have put you through such distress with your eyes. I hope that other posts you read does not have the same effect.
    ;)
  • Well I appreciated the font re-size! Thank you no1catman.
  • Hi everyone,

Please would you tell me what was wrong with the font size in my post?

It is not usual to get this complaint. However, I am very sorry for any inconvenience caused.

It does not show any problem on my computer so I am curious as to why it shows differently on yours.

Is it too small? What was the problem?

I hope this text is readable today without causing any eye strain.

this one the font size is 1, so my eyes have had to adjust a little to the smaller size and having to read it. All the other posts you have done since are fine.
  • Thank you Aesop, now I know. All's well again.
  • Does anyone know how long it takes to credit 'change' when you use less than the full value of a voucher to buy a boost offer?

I just used £2.50 of a £10 voucher to buy a Cafe Rouge voucher, as I wanted one denomination of £10, not all £20s. But now I need the other £7.50 back to buy more - when will it be credited? Am I even making sense? lol
