  • Hi Froggy, I must have missed the diary updates with who is who, so how come you have Elvis helping you pack? He must be a long way from home.

It is pouring in Bucks but I hadn't heard that ferries were being cancelled etc, although the wind is very rough.

    Good luck with your crossing

  • Hi Froggy, so it's a four legged creature as opposed to my two leg teenage creatures. Our cats love helping to wrap and particularly when we get the ribbon stuff out to make curly 'stuff' - I can't for the life of me think of the word.

Anyway, all well at this end. Looking forward to our break as its been a tough few weeks and we need a bit of quiet family time. It's strange as I love having a house full with lots of festive music and food galore, but this year will be different. Restorative and peaceful time is called for.

Rain is still belting down here, with a wee bit of snow thrown in for good measure about an hour ago.

Off to prepare dinner now - on the menu this evening is ........toad in the hole, mashed pots, greenery (of some description) and onion gravy - uunmmmm hummmmm.

Interesting evening so far.. As I walk through the door, the fuse box above my head implodes.. Then follows 2 hours of 'where's that burning smell coming from'..in the dark..I must have checked every single plug in this house, even in the loft
Well I finally found it, its the one behind the washing machine.. The plug is fully burnt and I am quite lucky it didn't catch fire..

I have managed to Skype my mum's boyfriend to explain the situation so I can have a look to see if I can repair it myself..

Is somebody trying to sabotage my planned (and much deserved I must add) holidays??

Needless to say, I haven't started cleaning & tidying the house as yet.. I wonder if the neighbours will mind if I start hoovering after 10pm?

    Anyway, onwards and upwards..

    Hi Tilly

Yep glad it happened whilst I was home.. According to the electrician it would have set fire to the plug in the end..oops..

Will probably leave the repairs till after xmas.. There's no mad rush, as the washing machine is now plugged somewhere else.. I'll have ago at repairing it myself before I call in the electrician..
