HFC/Beneficial - The start of a reclaiming road.

Well today marks the start of my quest against HFC/Beneficial finance.
I had a loan with them over 72 months which matures this November, dead on 6 years.

So today I'll be sending off my initial complaint form and a copy of the agreement. Do I need to include a letter stating what I am looking to acheive or will they pretty much know what it is all about?

According to the loan agreement, I would be due back in the region of £3200 in PPI including the interest. What is interesting is that the agreement does not have a policy number for the PPI. I know for definite that I would not have taken it out as all the other paperwork has been kept together as well.

I'll use this thread to update on progress etc.

Hi and welcome and good luck with your reclaiming.

You can write a cover letter if you want to, its optional, but they should know.
For instance if you wanted to give them further information where you didn't get the chance to on the questionnaire/form.
They have all the info on your account on filings systems.

We look forward to hearing the outcome, fingers crossed.;)

Thanks for the vote of confidence di3004.

While I'm at it, can any fellow HFC/Beneficial claimants confirm what their rough turnaround times are? ie should I be prepared to wait weeks?

    Hi

    Your very welcome.

I have not actually dealt with them myself, but many have, from what I have read, lots have had some straight forward cases, but others not, so it may vary.

However, I assume you are aware that HFC were one of those fined for mis selling ppi as from 2005?;)

Yeah, it was literally October 2004 that I took out the loan so around that time. Will have to wait and see what happens. Although I would imagine that around the 4 week mark would be acceptable to expect a reply from them within. If no sign after that then it may be time for the second letter along the lines of the reclaiming of bank charges.

    Hi

Yes that is a reasonable amount of time 4 weeks.

Will have to try to track down the Chief Executive officer (CEO details for you if I can get hold of them), and any problems you can contact him or her).
    Good luck.;)

Exactly one week after I sent the Official PPI complaint, I have received a questionnaire from HFC (Nothing official looking, just a few printed out pages that look like they were made in Word lol).

The questions are pretty much exactly the same as the ones on the original complaint form, however I'm pleased that I have a phone number and case reference. I've filled it out and sent it out Recorded delivery today.

Well I chased them up today on the phone and they said that it could take upto 8 weeks for them to get it processed from the date of the initial claim. The operator I spoke to pretty much told me how to accept an offer upon receipt of it though so either she knows something I don't, or they have had so many that it's a standard line lol. I'm gonna chase them every in a couple of weeks again if I haven't heard anything.

    Fingers crossed for you then.

Yes that is the correct timescale of 8 weeks, hope you hear before then though with a good outcome, good luck.;)

So today marks 5 weeks to the day that HFC received my initial complaint. It's also 4 weeks since they received their own questionnaire that they sent me (ie, I received their questionnaire a week later and sent it back the same day).

Today I have received a letter (dated 26th August!!) asking for a further 28 days as they have been 'unable to resolve my complaint'.

    To quote from the letter:

"May we request your patience for a further 28 days, by which time we would hope to be in a position to bring your complaint to a conclusion".

What are my options here? Am I stuck and have to give them a further month?
