When he receives it, he needs to register it against his account and then, when he logs in, he will also need to push the button on the authenticator and then enter the 6 digit random code it generates. It's only on the screen for about 10 seconds and then it disappears, but you can always push again for another number.
Makes it much, much more difficult for the average hacker to get into your account. Almost impossible. They'd have to be able to bypass that functionality somehow and most of them won't know enough to be able to do that.
Otherwise, I'm afraid your son may be hacked regularly. Also, make sure he changes ALL his passwords, including the hotmail and make sure it's not easy to guess.
Thanks Euro but apparently he knows about them! He's not getting one yet tho as I've just found out he's moving out next month with his girlfriend, they went to look at a flat yesterday and have paid a deposit. So I think he's going to sort it out when he moves.
Funnily enough DS3 has never (touch wood) has his wow account hacked!!! Or DS4 - who only goes on his account now and again lol! God I've raised a load of geeks :rotfl::rotfl:Debt @ LBM - £25,722 Debt now - £11,811 DFD - April 2012

I think when DS2 moves out next month I'm going to be struggling, as I'll be losing his board money! (don't mean that to sound like thats all i'm bothered about) although saying that he eats like a pig, leaves his pc and tv and bedroom light on all the time, not to mention all the showers he has and all his clothes that have been worn for a couple of hours that have to be washed etc., oooh I might just be better off :rotfl:
Am feeling a bit upset about him moving out actually but hiding it from everyone!! My little baby leaving home!!DS3 said oh well mam, 2 down 2 to go :rotfl::rotfl:DS1 thinks it means I have a spare bedroom for my 2 GD's to sleep evey weekend - hmmm we'll have to see about that!!
DS4 can't wait tho cos he's getting DS2's bedroom which is double the size of his lol in fact he keeps asking him if he can't move out any earlier :rotfl:

Yay! Be proud!:rotfl:
Good news for your son. I hope it goes smoothly for them.
I was lucky that my account was never hacked before getting the authenticator, but quite a few in our Guild have been. They also then access the Guild bank and take stuff from there. Very annoying!February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Morning everyone.
Myrtle is still under the car port (literally) & a ton of snow. It doesn't seem to be thawing much here at all... I've been accused of being a misery-guts this morning because I said I was fed up of it now... lovely DH
Green, think of the savings you'll make when DS2 moves out, the leccy bill will plummet by the sound of it :j
psychopathbabble - maybe we should ask for a re-count. You're not alone, in my head it's still September / October, definetly not Christmas. That said, everythings done, the lovely Asd@ man will deliver tomorrow (snow allowing!) and if that's not it, well tough, it won't get done... and tell more about Mr Scottish - I love a good romance story
Anyway PAD for today just £2, to the evil CC1.
Have a good one everybody, stay warm & safe!I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...0 -

Oh my...2.5 days to go??? Really? Holy sheet. We have to do all our food shopping tonight and then all our gift shopping tomorrow night because of DH's trips abroad with work and this blummin' white stuff everywhere stopping us from just getting on with it. At least we've arranged when to see most of our friends now though, so the calendar is full.
Yesterday's PaD was £10 into savings and today's is £12 into my £2 coin pot and £300 into savings. I would usually have done that next week, but we've been paid early and i want to see what pennies are left after my regular savings have gone out.
So a total of £322 for me please, Paul
I'll have another fairly big one on the 28th but then it'll just be dribble drabbles until January's payDay again for me.
I'm glad to see people keeping the faith in PaD even up until Giftmas. It's hard when there's so much eating away at your money, so it's good to see this place ticking over.
Hope everyone is well and warm.

Afternoon all,
Whoop whoop, i've just made my final payment to my catalogue:j, another debt bites the dust:D We'll be concentrating on clearing OH cc next think theres about £400 left to pay, already got £120 put aside for the next payment so hopefully wont be too long till that ones gone too then we can concentrate on the biggie - our loan.
Anyways i've been sat going through all this years finances and this year, although it's been tough we've managed to clear our catalogue, 2 small ish cc's and make a decent dent in our loan so i dont think we've done too bad considering. Our aim is to clear our remaining debt by the end of next year. I'm sure with the help of this thread it can be done:beer:
