  • Had an email at work yesterday about a cash back scam currently happening in the shops - someone paid for their big food shop with a debit card and when looking at the receipt noticed a £40 cash back request that was def not requested, he had to get the manager of the supermarket to sort it out and the claim from the store is that the card reader machines are playing up! A friend who works in the audit dept for a retailer has told me it is not an uncommon scam at this time of year and she has investigated several instances already where staff are commiting fraud in this way and giving the cash to their friend who is next in the Q

Who knows what is to blame but as it is the season to spend more than normal I would urge everyone to double check any debit/credit card recepits before leaving a store.

DS2 got his account hacked into sunday night/monday morning!!! and they hacked into his email address as well!! The cheeky gits even added his girlfriend and used her to authenticate his wow account  apparently (cos I don't know much about it) they've deleted all his characters and sold some of his stuff!! Luckily Blizzard sorted it all out, he then sorted his email account out and the !!!!!!s hacked both accounts again!:mad: It seems it's someone from Japan who doesn't go to sleep!!! Anyway it is now sorted and Blizzard reversed all the transactions the hacker had done on his account - so DS is now happy!

Get him one of these: http://eu.blizzard.com/store/details.xml?id=221003617

When he receives it, he needs to register it against his account and then, when he logs in, he will also need to push the button on the authenticator and then enter the 6 digit random code it generates. It's only on the screen for about 10 seconds and then it disappears, but you can always push again for another number.

Makes it much, much more difficult for the average hacker to get into your account. Almost impossible. They'd have to be able to bypass that functionality somehow and most of them won't know enough to be able to do that.

Otherwise, I'm afraid your son may be hacked regularly. Also, make sure he changes ALL his passwords, including the hotmail and make sure it's not easy to guess.

    Hi all,

Just popping in to post a pad of £30.30 for today and tomorrow, as now thatI have finished work I have to start the annual travelfest... tomorrow it's Worksop!
At least I get out of driving this time round because my wrist is playing up again and I can't grip the gearstick properly:D excellent timing!

So tonight I will mostly be getting packed, baking mince pies to take for presents, and downloading some books to my new Kindle to read on the way :) I'm amazed how fast it came I only ordered it the other day! When I bought it the estimated super saver delivery was 30th Dec, not bad at all!

    See you all soon

    xx
Ths signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it... :o
  • Evening everyone, hope you're all warm, well & safe. We've had so much snow here that the weight of the snow on my carport has made it collapse on the top of my poor little car! Will have to wait for a thaw to be able to get it out and see the damage... Poor Myrtle :(

Anyway, nuff about the white cold stuff - £15 yesterday and £5 today please Paul, £20 to the dreaded CC1.

Silaqui, please let me know how you get on with your Kindle. I really quite fancy one, though it's in the 'want' list rather than the 'need' list, especially as I just treated myself to a fab new coffee maker!
