If you are in my current catchment area (or not far outside) then it may be possible. Unlikely though as I cover a small part of a large country.
Notice you're SE England - whereabouts do you cover, if you don't mind me asking...?Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -

Well you're not really meant to use the forum to tout for business but as you seem to be asking:
I am based in Crawley (nr Gatwick).
I go up as far as just inside the M25 (Lower Kingswood across to Caterham). To the East, Ashurstwood/East Grinstead/Dormansland. To the South/West, Staplefield/Horsham/Ockley & surrounding districts and any area closer to Crawley. I would venture a bit outside those areas but my rule of thumb is that to go too far outside that zone, the job would need to start getting larger and higher priced. Indeed I even did a three day job in Central London once but I made sure it was a great earner (I did it in two longer days in the end).
The way I work is that I prefer to do work where there are no access issues. Failing that, I will send a text the previous evening for a gate to be left unlocked or, even better, I will accept a gate key for me to use as required. Another option is fitting a combi padlock and only telling trusted visitors the number. So I will pre-notify although I prefer to not have to do this if there's a way around it. What I don't do is start negotiating times of day. Once I start having to do that it gets unworkable. I only have two jobs where that needs to happen. I always fix it as the first job of the day otherwise I would have to guess how long the earlier jobs take. Because such a job can often take me away from the area that I would be working in, they have to be jobs that are large enough to justify making a special journey if need be, and are therefore charged at a premium rate.
I usually aim for a six weekly service (meaning 6-8 weeks). If someone wants 12 weekly (meaning 12-16 weekly), I charge it at a 30% loading. If someone wants less frequent than 12 weekly, I either decline or charge at a very high rate.
It's quite likely that someone who is into MSE may not want to pay the rates I charge because I am definitely not the cheapest. However, I'm not the most expensive either. I aim to be one of the better window cleaners and I charge a higher than average rate. One of the great problems with window cleaning is that it attracts the black economy like a magnet when jobs are tight. Indeed, if I were a tax fiddler who were to claim dole and work at the same time, of course I could halve my rates. I prefer to sleep at night though.
I used to be far too accommodating to customers and ended up running around all over the place for nowhere near enough money. It really opened my eyes a few years ago when I needed a lot of sick time (one of the reasons I drifted into high debt levels). Although not always true, it turned out that, in general, the customers I put myself out for the most, were the ones who dumped me the fastest for not being able to work (I did send a mailshot to everyone to inform them too). That was what made my mind up to put things on a more businesslike footing rather than being the "local, friendly window cleaner".0 -
Morning All!
Snowed here yesterday afternoon/evening and it's snowing again now.
Anyway, funds reached the UK, so a PAD of 142.79 GBP to the Halifax CC, and 31 GBP to the Halifax overdraft. I hate that they are getting the majority of my money! Grrr. Anyway, total PAD of 173.79 GBP.
Have a good day all! And be careful in the snow and wrap up warm!

The snow has finally arrived here in the southeast. It settled overnight and is still coming down lightly. If it stops I will go out to work later.
In the meantime, I've just checked my online account and note that a DD has gone out.
So a PAD of £10.01 from me today.0 -
I can see more snow heading your way Paul, from North Sea. Will probably reach you in a couple of hours or so. http://www.buienradar.nl/h.aspx?soort=verwachting1x1&jaar=-4&voor=201011301020February wins: Theatre tickets0
