Hope it is just brakepads :D men are never there when you need them!! lol

My Dad's old car had this problem once. It wasn't a Citroen, but it did make the noise you describe and yes, it was the brake pads. Fingers crossed for you!

Hugs for you, your DIL and your DS too!

Congratulations Thrifty! Glad you had fun! :D

And hugs to anyone else who needs them!! ((HUGS))

Sorry it won't show me anything!?!?!? I'm not on facebook!
It's ok, I'm fine..... but that was really daft!

I have my exam tomorrow.... stressful times. But I CAN DO THIS!!!!!!

Good luck with the exam today!!

Sorry to hear about the baby not surviving Green. Sounds like one of the worse things that can happen to a woman.

As for the car: I'm no mechanic. I pay people to fix motors for me. I have had a wheel bearing go though in a previous car. Initially I resolved the problem by winding up the window and turning the radio up. It was noisy all the time eventually straight or turning. Mine was a rear bearing though. It was only £40 back then to replace it but that was 20 years ago. Could be anything now. As someone else said, sometimes it can be more expensive as it's an integral part of other things on some cars. I'm not a person who knows how to fix cars I'm afraid. Even if I could, I would probably pay someone. For me no motor = no money earned. A mechanic would fix something much more quickly than I thus reducing the off road time. Their charges would more than pay for the extra time it would take me even if I did know what to do.

That's what I did the other day :o:rotfl: It hasn't happened since so am hoping it was something and nothing!!
I asked my son this morning and he said it could be my brakepads/discs or a bearing but I'd have to take it to the garage so they can have a proper look  Yeah I will if it happens again :D

If it's a bearing, it will get more frequent and noisier so will give warning. However, if it's worn brake pads, if you delay too long you may have to change discs too. Change the pads in sufficient time and you would save the cost of changing discs (this is a lot more expensive than pads only). Please note that if the discs are showing signs of being worn anyway, changing pads only is a false economy. This is because the pads would need to be changed a lot more frequently if fitted on worn discs. Of course, if you were going to sell the car soon anyway................ but that would be between you and your conscience.
