Sky from shared dish - only one input

Assuming I can get permission then how much is the work likely to cost? I'm still annoyed that I need to pay anything at all (again if there was nothing already installed I wouldn't be having this problem), so I'd rather it wasn't too expensive.
And we're new at renting so I don't even know how to approach this topic with the landlord, any tips? Do I have a "right" to get Sky the way I want it, or will the landlord see me as a pain in the buttocks?
Its not impossible and quite a common task, but there is no chance of accurately estimating cost without seeing but bare minimum £150 parts for stacking and destacking down the one lead.
If you are lucky and can get a dish installed probably around £100 but its unlikely as its very ugly when extra dishes go up.
No you have no rights to Sky+, and you are in a far better position than if nothing was there, as you would still need permission to install a dish.
If you want something extra you need to pay for it.0 -

To install a stacker/destacker would still need access to the multiswitch and thus need the original installers to provide the access. Doubt they will let a 3rd party do this work as the whole point of them holding the contract is to make profit from this kid of thing. Also as cummunial setups tend to have very long cable runs the stacker/destacker may not work properly.0 -
I think the wiring is internal here as well because the faceplate is on a party wall, not an external one. I know I don't have a right to have sky, I suppose what I mean is, is it a reasonable request?
Starting to wish we'd moved elsewhere now. I really hate that I'm going to pay the same as everyone else, without any of the signing up offers (quidco, M&S vouchers, etc), and get a poor service. There's no cable and BT Vision looks rubbish so they've got us really haven't they. :-(
[EDIT] Can I cancel the flat install I have arranged and just try signing up normally online and getting quidco? If is just a case of plugging in the box then why do I need a special flat install??
Beware it may not be just a case of plugging in as the feed may not be connected to the multiswitch (reason being as the maintence company like to charge connection fees for new tennants). You really need to check all these things out with the management company (prob via the landlord) before jumping into this.0 -
Been in the same situation myself for the last year
Basically the management company will have a contract with a installer for the communal system and no one else will be able to touch the system.
It's a complete pain
Anyone who put up their own dishes were told to remove them as they looked ugly dotted all over the place. Luckily only a couple had put their own up
I'm only out of it now because luckily our communal system was so rubbish enough people complained and they put a new communal system in with dual feeds.
Perhaps find out what other people have and complain jointly to the management company0 -

Indeed thats BARE MINIMUM cost as stated, access is rarely an issue you do not need the original installers permission you just need freeholders permission.0 -

Your missing the point that its a communial system and the original installers will have the maintenance contract. No one will be able to touch the setup but them. The management company/freeholder will direct you to them and they will do the work but at a (probably inflated) cost.0 -

Correct. When I moved in here I called Sky directly to get a box etc...they wouldn't touch it and gave me the number for the company who did the initial install, I called them and any monies for installation went to them.0
