Are E2Save and CPW.com phones sim-locked?

Hi all,

I'm aware that normal Carphone Warehouse stores sell un-locked PAYG phones but, does this also apply to the CPW website and e2save (which I believe is still part of CPW) stock?

Thanks.

The long and short is it's hard to say.

If the phone is available on any network then CPW probaby will sell generic stock that will be unlocked.

If the phone is exclusive to one network (be it an exclusive phone such as the Dell Streak is exclusive to o2, or an exclusive colour) then the stock will probably be network sock and most likely locked.

This applies to PAYG and Contract, they don't automatically sell unlocked PAYG stock, again if it's network exclusive it's probably locked.

I had no idea that PAYG phones could be bought unlocked in this way.:o Except for the Sim Free types which are WAY more expensive.

I only found out by accident but it saved me £20 I have had my eye on the Samsung S5560 Marvel for a while but was it was £84 on Vodafone and £104 on o2 - who I'm with, so I have been waiting to see if o2 put the price down

I noticed on e2Save website it said limited stock on the model so I rang them up to ask was it limited stock on a particular PAYG network and the assistant said no they are all the same as they are unlocked!! I was shocked so said I might as well buy the vodafone one then and he said well yes that's the money savvy way to do it!

If only I had known sooner could have saved me waiting and just bought the vodafone one straight away!! So I bought the vodafone one yesterday came this morning I stuck my sim card in and it works fine straight away. Result ;)

Fab phone for the price has wi-fi and a 5mp camera! Just getting used to it as I have never had a touch phone before!! :D
