Neither of your pictures is of a master socket, what does the bedroom one look like and what are your router stats?
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • the one in the bedroom looks like the pic that you posted,
its white box, with actual BT logo imprinted on it. its in the build in ward drobe in bedroom.

I can not check my router stats, like you said,
when i click on those links, its a blank page, as the internet connection is not working yet.
they gave activation date of 5th aug, but they say its usually much earlier than that that it starts working, but mine is not working. So frustrating, the waiting period.

Macbook: wi fi is not picking up net, and ethernet cable connection is not working either.

where do i buy a LONG ethernet cable from? are there diff specs with the cable?
is that what its called? ethernet cable? the wire that connectes PC to internet, from router into pc.
  • You can buy them from Ebay, Amazon, anywhere. The lead will be called anything from:

    Network Cable
    RJ45 Cable
    CAT5e Cable
    Ethernet Cable
    Patch Cable

And a whole lot more. They are all the same cable. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cat5e-RJ45-Ethernet-Network-Cable/dp/B000IAJHQ0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1280878048&sr=8-1

That would suit you just fine (assuming the length is 20 metres or less)

    thankyou.
i am so fed up and depressed.

internet worked for 2 hours this afternoon, then stopped, and has not been working all day since.
    Today was activation date.

one month i wait for internet.
    for this?

letter says connection will be intermittent for 10 days.
so basically it wont work properly for 10 days? not happy.

and when i try to check my mysky account online, it says guest user,
my sky info not available, upgrade to primary user.
but when i try to, with my bank details, it says incorrect.
Ive had problems with logging in from the very beginning, constantly asking me to change password, wrong password,
wrong username, its never working properly.

And when i enter my bank details, it says wrong, one more attempt left, then i give up. So i cant see mysky info.

so i cant even email sky customter services?
i have to call them 08 expensive phone numbers???!?!?
ive a feeling im gonna be calling customter service all the time.
whats the cheapest way to contact sky customer services and tech support????

i hate this whole internet buying setting up process. hate it. hate it. hate it. hate it. hate it. hate it. hate it. hate it.

and those links penrhyn posted here, why havent sky given me them? i have none of that user name admin sky stuff.

and sky have given me an email addresss?!!? what the hell is this for? they havnt even explained how to check it and whatever. NOT IMPRESSED WITH SKY.

    someone please shed some light/help.

I'm assuming you have your Sky router, is this correct?
When you plug in your Sky router does it connect, i.e The internet light goes from amber to green.
You will lose connection for a few hours when the connection is swapped over from your old ISP.
Sky don't provide router log in details, but its an essential fault finding tool.
You should be able to log into Sky email and tools with the supplied email address and password here, you will see its really googlemail with Sky branding.

    https://skyid.sky.com/signup/email

If you can't get on line then unfortunately you will have to bite the bullet and ring Sky.

yes i have the sky router.
    its working today.
but those links you posted about router stats etc, they are not working for me, i just get a blank page.

connection was not swapped over. i purchased a new line from sky and BB too.

sky email is not of any use to me, why would someone want to use sky email service?

    cheers.

O well can't win them all, I just use my Sky email address for Sky bumph, and use regular gmail for other stuff.

What do you propose to use rather than Sky's offering?

BTW If you ever stop having Sky broadband you can continue to use the email service.

  • all the other people i know have sky settings page where you can do all sorts of changes like security, passwords, etc.
maybe they will send me my details for this settings page yet..... ill try intalling the CD again.

i use gmail, hotmail, why would anyone want to use sky email is what im saying.
i dont trust a company like sky for my personal email. i mean its a TV satellite company.

OK, but its not Sky handing your email its Google, they just put their badge on it.
Sky also have one of the largest internetnetwoks in the country, it was built by Marconi, running alongside canals and the like and was originally called Ipsaris.
    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/marconi-backs-ipsaris-network-into-easynet-675788.html

This was sold to Easynet who are owned by Sky.

Regarding your router, Sky put their own firmware on it and the login is the same for all of them.
    http://192.168.0.1

Sky won't send you that information.

However if you want more Sky related info and help, https://www.skyuser.co.uk is a good resource.
