uPVC Frontdoor

Options
Hello :)

I am considering getting a new front door and was just wondering on costs of such.

I am looking just to get a standard (one panel of glass) uPVC front door.

How much should I be looking at buying one for and how much roughly to get it fitted?

Thanks in advance ;)

Take a look at dunster house online - supply only but loads cheaper than going through a upvc window company.

£300-£350 for the door, and £100-£150 for fitting

Use a FENSA registered installer or pay another £80 to the council for the building regs application

Ohhh, I need to get premission to fit one from the Council?

I will use one FENSA registered anyway as watched WatchDog to many times to get bitten :p

Sounds cheap imcornholio. When we were getting quotes last year most of them were £600 upwards supply and fit and some were as high as £900 (they were sent packing!!). I actually paid £575 though in hindsight i would have gone elsewhere and paid slightly more. That's just a basic uPVC front door with low threshold but at southeast prices.
And as i seem to keep on saying you don't have to use FENSA..and could use a CertAss registered installer.

As a guide,my local company did all my windows and doors. The products, workmanship and staff were all very good.

    Use Kommerling products.

    Some guide prices on website

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • Recently paid £500 fitted in North Yorkshire, local company. Was less hassle than supply only as anything to go wrong (either due to manufacture or fitting) is down to one company. 10 year insurance back guarantee as well.

Although the only others that got near that price were local supply only places who could then recommend a fitter.

FYI - if you are planning to be in this house a while then you might want to consider a composite door, look nicer and more solid in my opinion

Paid about £750 fitted, there are some real cheap offers round out way but the doors are paper thin and they flex when you push them, the one I got was totally solid, well known names wanted £1200+ so used a local company who were excellent, don't buy cheap you'll regret it

If you look at the price of these doors in the sheds, they are about £350 for a typical basic doorset.

If you went to a local manufacturer, then they will knock a similar one up for about £300, or a bit less if you haggle. A bit more for other designs

Fitting will be less than a days work all in, including disposal of the old door. So even if it was a full day it would be £150 maximum. You don't need a specialist fitter, as a carpenter or other competent person will be able to fit one of these

    Okay.

I'm still at a loss here LOL.

I want a basic front door, with one window, just a small half cut circle one at the top, obviously a letter box.

I also would like it fitted, obviously.

If I ring round and haggle, what are the prices I'm likely to get offered?
Also, I have seen month payments, is this wise on a door? or better to just buy it out??
