Orange e-mail problem

I can't get into my e-mails today, it won't recognise my user name or password even though I used them both several times yesterday via O/E. Internet access is ok. I've tried logging on via their website but no go.

Anyone else having this problem today? I've given up trying to call them !

Thanks for any help.

Linda :(

  • I've had no trouble today Wed, 20th July. Didn't try yesterday.

I normally use gmail as it means I can leave my ISP without having to change all my contacts' records. This turned out handy when TalkTalk took over my ISP:(. Yahoo, Hotmail etc are also alternatives.

Is Orange your internet provider ?

If not and you are using a previous Orange (Freeserve,Wanadoo account) then accessing through you current provider will not keep your account active, you have to DIAL in old style for it to be kept activated.

If this is the case you should have received an e-mail saying your account is about to be withdrawn.

You MIGHT be able to resurect it by going to:

    https://membercentre.orange.co.uk/MCPres/reclaim/payg/ss

However if it has gone past a certain number of days then you will most likely be unlucky.

This is the e-mail you should have got IF you are NOT an ORANGE ISP customer

We’ve noticed that you’ve not dialled in to your Dial-up Pay As You Go Internet account for over 7 months, and you will lose access to it (and your email account) if you don’t re-activate it. Unfortunately if you access your emails via Webmail or Outlook Express - this doesn’t count.

To keep your account active (including your email address), we need you to restore your account within the next 5 days. It’s easy to do, just click here or go to www.orange.co.uk/youraccount and sign in – where you’ll automatically be asked to restore your account.

Unfortunately, if your Pay As You Go account is not restored, your account will be disabled in 5 days time, which means you won’t be able to sign in. But don’t worry, you’ll still have 35 days before it gets deleted – so you’ll still be able to restore it by following the instructions above. But be careful though, because if you do nothing, you will lose your email address and everything held in your account in 40 days time.

So, just to clarify - if you want to stop your Pay As You Go account and email address from being disabled, you must restore it during the next 5 days. Remember to do this regularly to keep your account active.

    Thanks,

aerostar, if you search other forums you will find huge numbers of people who lost access to their old HORRange email address without any warning and well within the timescales you mention.
I've just written it off to experience;fortunately I had switched all my important and family contacts over to a new email addy when I left Orange

Well I still have a freeserve and wanadoo address that were taken over by orange and both still work happily, both of these are over 4 years old or more. The information given was how I found the service to be operated for these accounts..
