Wrong registration number on the PCN - do I have to pay this fine?

I overstayed on a parking meter and got a PCN from the local council traffic warden.
On it :
Vehicle registration: This is printed wrongly (the last two letters are in the wrong order.
Make: My car manufacturer is listed but not the model of my car (I don't know if that matters anyway but thought I would mention it)
My question is: do I have to pay this PCN? If I didn't pay it, would the PCN issuer be able to trace me?

With no disrespect to people on this site but it may prove wise to ask the same question over on https://www.pepipoo.com has they have some experts there with regards to council tickets and those tickets should not be ignored.
Good luck.0 -

The chances are that the ticket will not get to you and will go to the other car owner. However its not allowed for the council to have another go at issuing the ticket again with the correct number. Make and model of car are not necessary but are useful to the council if there's any doubt if its the correct car.
wait and see and come back if they reissue.
Alternatively do as suggested on pepipoo.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
There must be something going on with parking wardens, as the same thing happened to me today. I have also posted on Peppipoo and got some advice already.0

Lol what if they put it on *your* ticket wrong, but got it right on theirs?!
(devil's advocate here, sorry). I agree, wait and see what hits the doormat.

Not likely with the computer based machines they use. Most unlikely to pick it up before the "Victim" of the wrong number chirps up.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

One reply on pepipoo.com has advised not to pay this PCN.0 -

Write a quick letter to the Council pointing out the error. They will check the CEOs photos and see that the registration number has been recorded incorrectly. PCN revoked. Job done."It's official, MSE's harbouring total fruitcakes">^..^<0
