FairFX - warning: direct transfer top-up failure

This information on the FairFX FAQ about topping-up by bank transfer is wrong - following it (giving card number as reference) sent my money into a black hole.

Can I fund my FairFX account by bank transfer?

Yes you can, generally most high street banks do not charge for this
service. If this is your preferred method of payment, please send your
funds to the following account.

If you have used it and like me thought the money lost, email FairFX who can fish it out and put it onto your card.

FairFX told me to instead use the following procedure, and it worked.

To pay by bank transfer follow the same procedure to order the card or
top up but
when you get to the payment details screen, instead of entering your
card details, you click on Direct transfer at the top of the page. You
will then be given an FXP number by email which you must quote when
instructing
your bank to pay us required amount of UK Sterling. That way we can
match your incoming payment to your order. You will be given our account
details at the same time you are given the FXP number. Once we receive
your payment we will approve your order and release the card for
delivery/or top up your card.

Did you supply your card number as a reference when you submitted the initial payment?
