  • Just had a phone call and email from Peter Erskine's complaints manager.

Everything sorted, Balance ( of ~£100) cleared off and £15 per month discount on my line rental...

    Cant say fairer

    Cheers everyone for your help

To cancel, it would need to be a matter of 'Not supplying the service promised', i.e. your phone stops working for no reason or has no coverage; in this case, it was barred for non-payment, regardless of it being the networks fault.
Eh? Changing the direct debit details is a perfectly acceptable thing to do. It was done correctly from the customer's point of view, so continuation of the service was promised, and therefore the phone did stop working for no reason - i.e. through no fault of the customer. The customer didn't refuse to pay; the network couldn't get its act together to take payment. How can that be any more acceptable than any other reason for the phone failing to work that gives the customer the right to cancel?
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.
  • gromituk - agree with you totally. The contract is for the total service packaged product, including the component of the ability to make calls etc.
Their service failed on several occasions including :
in the customer service dept and withdrawal of network services.
The customer did everything he/she could be reasonably expected to do. The party in breach is O2.
