wonder if it will apply to Uk at some point

The ruling means that smartphone owners will be able to “hack” their phones, a process known as “jailbreaking”, in order to run applications and software without the approval of the phone’s maker.
Apple said the change could “severely degrade” the iPhone experience, and cause the device to “become unstable and not work reliably”. The company also stressed that “jailbreaking” an iPhone would still void the device’s warranty, despite the ruling.

i had my 3gs jailbroken when on 3.1.3 firmware and had to restore to factory settings due to a fault,it was changed under warranty without question as they cannot tell it has been broken.
i doubt it will severely degrade the iphone experience and cause it to be unstable jailbreaking makes it more user friendly in my opinion, for unstable iphones i suggest apple speak to the 3g owners who have made them like bricks by updating to ios4.my missus has a 3g and it is almost unusable since update as it is so slow and whats more it cannot be taken back to 3.1.3 firmware very easy and if you do then you cannot use your apps unless you have an old backup stored.0 -

The thing with Apple is they want control. They want to tell you what to do when you have paid out your money to buy a product made by them. They have also taken from the book store on the ipad erotic books by someone who has 3 books in the top 10. Steve Jobs said HE didn't want them in there, who is he to tell what a consumer can or cannot consume? This is why i will never by an Apple product.0
