Sounds quite normal to me, she is paying a lot of money and there must be things she wants to look at.

There is another post from a FTB who wonders if it is ok to view again. I have replied on that. I will expect to view as often as I want when I finally come to buy.

Im a reasonable person, but feel uncomfortable asking to view all the time without good reason.
Can anyone think of a damn good reason to view that doesnt annoy the vendor?

Unless the contract stipulates that completion is subject to a further property inspection and approval by the buyer, you are not obliged to allow her into the house prior to completion. But as others have said, it may not be worth the hassle to refuse her a visit.

I think you are being a bit unreasonable. When we sold our house the buyers (first-timers) came around loads of times. For some reason, it also took 4 months from agreeing the sale to completion. Every time they came around I would be worried to death they had changed their mind and were pulling out. I don't know why they made so many visits but I gritted my teeth and put up with it and was always pleasant to them. Trust me, you don't want to put off your buyers.

And of course its a bit irritating having to tidy up and make yourselves available so often .... but come on! From their point of view they are about to make the biggest purchase of their lives. Can't you be a bit more accommodating? After all if it wasn't for them you wouldn't be going to Australia, would you?

Perhaps we all buy houses too casually and should take a leaf out of this person's book?

To be honest you didn't need to let the string of tradesmen in but I think a looksee just before completion is perfectly legitimate, especially since you're going and never coming back.

I'm completing friday and having a look round Thursday in a vacant possession, we're not measuring up or anything as I don't see the need as we're doing some work and painting before moving in. I just want to find out how the boiler works, and since its so close to completion we can agree the meter readings

    [/QUOTE]

Our solicitors are in the process of sorting out contracts etc at the moment before exchange, but I didn't ever think about meter readings - don't the utilities companies sort all that stuff out then? Essentially we are FTB (my partner inherited his house) so have no knowledge of any of this stuff!
We need a checklist or something! Why can't they make an easy guide: "This is what happens when you buy a house... you MUST do this..."
