What about sending your mum/sister/gran/husband all in to collect the emmas packs.
If it makes you feel better my midwife had run out of emmas diarys when i had last one, so never received copy. You go collect another as a pressie from me.lol0 -
jellyhead wrote:i'm pregnant and am short of money. although i'll be looking in the paper etc. for secondhand baby stuff i'm also hunting for the cheapest shops in case i can't find what i need second hand (the woman who used to run a second hand baby equipment shop now sells new stuff and told me nobody buys secondhand anymore, there wasn't enough of a market for her to stay in the business, nobody is poor anymore, the £500 people on benefits get is enough to buy new). i beg to differ, i'm poor, lol! i'm not on benefits but i'd imagine that people who are would also prefer to buy cheaply if they can, so i'm wondering if these prices are cheap for a cot or if anyone's seen cheaper?
john lewis has a winnipeg cot in either white or natural made from hardwood and rubberwood. dropside mechanism, 2 mattress base positions £60 without mattress. standard postage is £3.95 but there's £10 off a £50 shop usingwww.johnlewis.com/primababy02 (voucher code printed in march edition of prima baby magazine, not a personal code).
mothercare has a hereford cot in pine. same as above but 3 mattress base positions. postage is £3.95 or free if order is more than £100. i don't know of any discounts.
i haven't looked at cot beds, i thought a cot then a single bed would be the cheapest way to go. i haven't looked at mattress prices yet either.
empire catalogue has a similar natural hardwood cot for £100 including foam mattress. new customers save £15. they also have a cotbed for £130 including foam mattress. the cotbed has a solid head and footboard, none of the cots do - is this important? the sides are removable but don't have a drop down mechanism
any advice welcome :-)

Baby equipment varies greatly and dont be conned. We are also expecting and on a budget but managed to save £140 on a travel system by shopping around. Have you tried www.kiddicare.com they are very good and if you spend £50 which is easy done then uk delivery is free and they also have cheaper extra deals that you can purchase if you spend over £50 on all sorts of things. They have crib for £30 at the moment as a deal. Worth a look! hope this helps.0 -
we've got a 'Hauck'(sic?) rocker from Kiddicare is about £28 I think the winnie the pooh one. Has a toy bar and can be adjusted from reasonably upright to flat, and if you don't want it to rock there are clips on the legs that flick down so it is steady. Our little one uses it mostly for daytime naps, at first he didn't really stay but now it's worth it's weight in gold as we can have him sat up for a bit of a look round then when he drops off just lay it flat, can be taken apart so reasonably easy to transport stow away at night aswell0

hi spendless, i collected your emma's diary pack today, thanks lol! it's a bit mad that they put in a card to collect another one, i wonder how many people collect an endless supply of them? they can't mind very much or they wouldn't put the extra card in. it's not very mumsy to be honest, fruit flakes, bran flakes, a heart shaped clip (good for clipping coupons together lol!), pack of 3 lindt chocs (yum!) and either decaf coffee and little tube of palmers body lotion or a pair of lansinoh breast pads. there's a hipp organic pregnancy calendar with £1.30 of vouchers and the coffee sachet comes with a 20p voucher. there's nothing about nappies, wipes, breastfeeding, etc. so you might want to start collecting them yourself lol! i've had 3 packs now
when i went for a 3rd pack i was given an out of date bounty pack by the boots staff and didn't realise until i'd opened it. i emailed emma's diary explaining i got bounty instead of their pack and they sent me a replacement claim card next day so i got my 3rd pack today. you could try that excuse if you want chocs and some vouchers lol! anyway, sorry for veering off topic, i don't think i have the cheek to collect enough vouchers from packs to cover the cost of my fisher price desires lol!
i like the look of the hauck chair. the fisher price chair is £38 at kiddicare and looks like it will last for years. not sure if a 2 or 3 year old will want a rocking chair though? are vibrations worth paying extra for?52% tight0
