I'd say go with a local sim as roaming is a rip off! I just don't see why roamed data needs to cost 100x-300x the cost of non roamed data. At what stage is this massive extra cost incurred by the networks? You are using the same mobile bandwidth as the locals so it must be the non-mobile section of the network that costs so much.
When buying a new handset ALWAYS ask about their unlocking policy. Some networks such as orange will not unlock for the first 3 months, even if you offer to pay an unlocking fee which is an outrage!0 -
What network are you on? I'm on T-mobile and when I was away in Europe I paid £10 for 50mb of usage which you would usually pay £150 for.0
