Is this a good deal with Virgin?

Hi I phoned virgin as an existing customer today , not on a contract. I currently have 10MB broadband M tv and M phone at £24.49 per month. I asked what the cost would be to upgrade the tv to XL and was informed the package would then cost £39.24. I really am bewildered as to how Virgin negotiate deals as the prices are all different and the customer advisor said there was no room for negotiating as this was £21 cheaper than a new customer! I would be grateful for any opinions on the price quoted for upgrade as I think they could offer better..cheers shrewdal

They are strange people

I have the M tv, M phone and L broadband, i currently pay £45 pm inc line rental.
I called to ask about upgrading the tv to XL and was told it would be £21.50 extra PM, i also asked for s/sports and that was also £21.50 extra, again, no room to negotiate!
I called sky and they will provide unlimited broadband, phone, s/sports, and 4 other packages with free installation and free box for £54 pm. I think this is a good deal.......... BUT i have just read another post saying they get XL tv, M phone, L broadband, full sports and movies package all for £48.74 pm which includes the line rental!
Will be calling them again very soon to see what i can get or im afraid to say i will be joining sky!0 -
I re-negotiated mine the other week as I wanted to add Sky Sports. Although I don't think they're doing as good a deals as they've been able to do in previous years.
I now have:
V+ Box
TV XL
Telephone Line Rental (Only really use for receiving calls)
Internet L (10mb)
Sky Sports 1 -4
Premium HD Upgrade for Sky Sports (1 & 2 only with VM)
Total £66 per month.
I was previously paying £43 per month, but the Sky Sports Pack is another £20.50 and the Premium HD upgrade is another £7 , so I've effectively got £4.50 discount on these additions.0 -
Virgin dont negotiate with skysports and movies as they dont make money on those services0

Virgin are indeed very strange. Slightly off topic, but there appears to be no rhyme or reason for how they charge us for our calls. We barely use the landline and it's costing us £35 per month!
We're in the process of moving over to BT.0 -
Just to let everyone know,
Sky offered me S/Sports package, music, childrens and variety package
Unlimited b/band
+ Phone with the freetime package
Free box, wireless router, installation, dish etc and free installation of a new line.
£25 M & S vouchers
For £50 per month inc line rental.
I am a virgin customer and currently get everything from them but they were not able to match sky, the cheapest they could do was £60 per month and would not budge, tried on 3 occasions and they still would not budge each time as they cant compete.
They didnt seem to bothered that i was leaving to be honest, that was all 3 different operators i spoke to so i have carried on and asked for my package to be cancelled and am moving to sky. Shame because i wanted to stay with Virgin.0
