Premier,

I think we are both arguing the same point here..

I said "low cost" and "excellent value" arent words I would use to describe Ebico, I still wouldnt. ;)

I accept in certain circumstances they can be, but for the majority of people (I believe people on prepayment are still in the minority are they not?) there are far cheaper options available.

My original post was in regards to the sweeping generalisation made in post 12 by Jerrylathem about Ebico.

I'm not knocking Ebico at all, in fact I applaud them, I still wouldnt describe them as low cost or excellent value though and would recommend EVERYONE does a comparison whatever their circumstances to make sure they are going to the cheapest supplier. (Even if they do live in the midlands and have prepayment meters)
Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

Yes, that is what I suggested in my post too (but you edited that out when you quoted me)

Ebico can be "low cost" and hence represent "excellent value" in certain circumstances ... typically extremely low usage (especially for those with second homes) or low usage on a PPM.

My suggestion is people use a couple of comparison sites to confirm which supplier is cheapest for them.

Even this poster found that Ebico were only more expensive overall ( i.e. by comparing both gas and electricity combined), but found they could have saved by switching just their gas supply to Ebico.

:)

I still don't understand why you wouldn't use the term "low cost" for those users who use a comparison site and discover that Ebico offer the lowest price for their circumstances.

I'd also use "excellent value" in such circumstances, not only because they are the cheapest but that they appear to me to offer a good service, often using SSE at their point of contact who usually score highly themselves (compared to competitors) in terms of customer service. :)

No one is suggesting there is one supplier who is the lowest price for all situaitions. If such a supplier existed then all MSE'ers would join them and theier would be little point in the existence of the various comparison sites.

I have now started receiving spam to the (unique) email address used when I joined At Cost Energy.

First one i noticed was from saveitbuddy@emailfx.co.uk with the subject "19% gas hike - FIX NOW with CASHBACK!"

Anyone else getting them?
