Yeah the fee :(;) - shame they no longer take credit cards at the PO - I don't get paid until next month!

The post office still take cheques, make it payable to post office ltd. a few people i know do this if they are waiting a few days for payday.

Hubby can't afford it either - he's in the middle of trying to sell his BTL which is costing a fortune one way & another. Had to pay out of the last of my money (don't get paid until 28th August :( )

Anyhoo, got it done - she barely looked at any doc except the reminder! Whoop!

Just need to remember to send off for new V5 when I get paid.

    Thanks all for the advice

Ah - Wasnt just me then.
I tried online and it found all my details but said car wasnt insured either. New insurance starts 2 days before tax disc expires but was paid online weeks ago and all docs have arrived.

Went to post office taking renewal letter and MOT and proof of insurance. IT didnt ask for V5.
All done - wasnt even a queue.

For the insurance to be placed on MID database it can take between anything from as little as 24-48 hours for the most 'up there' insurers or between 7-14 days to show.

The other alternative is to simply wait until the insurance updates, the vehicle is still shown as due to expire until at least 11 days after the disc expires.

We are hoping to buy a new car in the next week, our tax expires Saturday, and won't be renewed until next weekend if we don't buy another car by then.

Be careful doing this, DVLA is getting hot on automatic fines not for cars that are either not re taxed or SORN'd in time!

Yes, automatic fines exist. But they aren't sent on the first of the month.
