I'm thinking the bit about no lower age limit, perhaps they should have an upper age limit as that would appear to be the problem judging by your comments.
Iv'e see one holiday camp on the net advertising this kind of holiday and just thought more evidence of the "Autism business" make heaps of money from these kids parents.
I would be ripping also as you have paid a lot of money to experience the very thing they claim you would not have to endure and frankly a cheapie at Haven would be far too aware of disability law to treat you in this way.
We have taken my boys to many regular holiday camps and while not ideal the company themselves have always been very disability aware and we were never made to feel we shouldn't be there.0 -
Thanks Vicky. We actually had a week at a Haven site a few weeks back, before the school holidays started. It was perfect for us, and a third of the price of this 'specialist' holiday.
I am thinking that the owner must be making a huge amount of money from families like ours. It's very sad.:beer:0 -
Well i think its pretty disgusting the way you have been treated - i dont blame you for going to the press - being the parent of a less able child is hard enough as it is , you paid to have a break in an environment suitable for your son - and also so you could chill out a bit knowing he was happy.
In the end all it has caused is more stress for you all -
Keep us informed if you hear anything. x0 -
this was on the local news a few days ago and thought of your family and young lad and only a few hours drive , details are at the bottom of the page but website doesnt work, other link shows what they do

That looks really lovely ash4becks We have a RDA centre near to us - that's where his school used to take him.
I've not actually got any further with my complaint.
The lady who runs if in the UK, referred me to the main man in the US.
The main in the US referred me back to the lady in the UK.
The lady in the UK referred me to the lady who was the organiser of the camp - i've just emailed her my complaint.
Talk about passing the buck!
I've been in touch with trading standards, they've said to contact them again if it's not resolved by the end of this week.
I'll keep you posted.:beer:0 -

I intend to - i'm a stubborn bint when I want to be!

After emailing her my complaint yesterday morning, I got a reply from her solicitor asking me to address all corres. to himself and he'll be intouch with her response.
I also emailed my MP last Thursday and was suprised to get a response in the post on Saturday. They've written to them for their comments.

well a full refund would be what i would want plus costs getting there after all holidays when working are few and far between0 -
No experience, no advice - just you go get 'em girlie!!!
Its hard enough with a disability without this sort of thing! If they had explained things differently or at least had a better reason then 'that it wasn't right for J' things might look a little different but I am afraid I would be the tigress protecting her brood as well :mad:Mags - who loves shopping0 -
After patiently waiting for a response from her solicitor, I had one this morning.
After 5 weeks of being passed from person to person, it seems nobody is responsibe.
I'm not sure what to do next, but I will not go away quietly.
Dear 3
I do appologise for my delay in responding. I have considered the material in detail and whilst I and my client remain very sympathetic to your predicament, there can be no question that any liability rests with her.
I hope that you will appreciate that my client was only a volunteer helper at the time. Whilst she has taken steps to continue the good work she did not take over any business as a going concern. What she is involved in now is therefore a fresh "entity".
My client wishes matters to be left at that as there would be no purpose in lengthy protracted correspondence. She hopes you will appreciate this point and let matters rest. Threats of press advertising will only distressall parties more.
I hope matters can rest here but if you are otherwise minded please consult your own solicitor.
Kind regards.
