Radiation??!!!!!! Lol - it's not an X Ray! Anyway - where was this thread titled "I want to have a 3D scan but I'm afraid my baby will turn into the Incredible Hulk"
OP - ignore the bored scaremongerers. I recommend BabyBond too.0 -
babybond are fantastic. A very good friend works for them now. Before she did (& we could get a discount
) we went to 4d baby near cambridge. It was worth the drive for the saving, & had a great video & photos.

Correct it isn't radiation.
However, it is also an unnecessary, vanity procedure.
The HPA and FDA both say that ultrasound for medical / diagnostic purposes is a safe tool. However, they also go on to state that casual exposure to ultrasound waves during pregnancy should be avoided where possible.
If it makes the OP feel better and they understand the probably small risks then that is up to them.
To say it is totally safe when no such evidence exists one way or the other...
Also OP how will you react if the clinic find a problem?
More to the point do you know if they'll react in a professional manor also?0 -
I had a 4d scan at future babies in Reading with my first baby and will be having one again in a month or 2 with my second baby. I personally wanted the extra reassurance that everything was okay with my baby - and after all it is everyones own choiceEverything Happens for a Reason....0

Many thanks to those who provided recommendations as originally requested. I will certainly look into those companies. I did not intend to kick off a debate on the wrongs and rights of having scans done. I have done my research and I am fully aware of the risks involved - hence why the title of the thread was not " Are 3D/4D scans safe?" . So thanks to those who did criticise my decision to have a 3D/4D scan but it is my right to have the scan and if any problems are detected then I will cross that bridge if fate deals that card. And if the baby becomes a leftie as a result - then that's great because I'm a leftie and I'm proud of being a leftie. Nothing wrong with being a leftie. so what if I am being vain? The technology is there and this is my first child and I am in a financially comfortable position having been under the threat of redundancy most of this year. I know the risks. I'm a gambler and I'll take that risk, thanks very much. And I am looking forward to my 20 wk scan and even more excited about having my 3D/4D scan0

Hi moomin
I used a company called peek-a-baby they were very good and very reasonably priced compared to others. I know they have centres around the country but not sure if there is one by you but may be worth checking their web site :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -

As a fellow leftie, I agree, but that isn't the point. If it can influence handedness, what else can it influence? Can it make them more prone to certain conditions or illnesses later in life? Could it cause autism, for example, by altering the sensors in your baby's brain? Who knows?
Doesn't matter if you're a multi millionaire - you're exposing your child to who know what. Would you take your unborn child for a fortnight at Chernobyl?I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
