Am looking to have one of these done in september. Does anyone have any recommendations with any of the companies that do these? there seem to be so many when I look online, but just don't know which ones are the better ones.
Thanks

Why subject your unborn child to unnecessary radioactivity?0

Indeed. They're also a higher strength than those needed for medical scans and nobody knows the potential issues it can cause (they haven't been around long enough to know the long term effects).
See.

caroline, thats a little harsh.. at least back up your statement in a way the op can develop an opinion. ie post proof of study and maybe a more gentle way of putting things such as 'have you not considered the effects 4d scanning may have on your baby..here is a study that goes into details'
My SIL is a radiographer (sp)and says babies who have more scans have a higher chance of being lef handed due to some brainwave changes due to the scans etc..dunno if its true or not tho
OP....babybond comes highly rec from many - you will have a local branch no doubts0 -

What sort of scan did you have???
Most people only have ultrasound scans and 3D/4D scans are just the same.
We didn't have one because we didn't really want one and there are still question marks over the unnecessary ultrasound exposure but radioactivity has nothing to do with it...0 -
We used Babybond and were very happy with the scan and the DVD/Pictures.
I'm not going to enter the debate on possible risks as others have already raised it, but if you are planning on a scan then I would certainly recommend Babybond from our experience.0 -
We used 4D Baby Images in Brentwood Essex. Bounty sent us a discount code for them. My baby wasn't in a very good position so they gave me time to walk around to try to move him.0

I did 4D scan with a private clinic called Baby premier and you can google it. They have many clinics throughout the Uk. It's lovely to have an idea of how your baby looks like and you can save the pictures for his/her wedding day. I think all the companies just do the same thing but you'd better do it between week 26 and week 30. I did mine at week 32 and it's not a best time as the baby is quiet big. My little darling just would not move his little hand off his face and his dad did do a 'men's talk' with him and then we went back to the scan room my baby moved his hand off and laughed at last!!!!
My advices are:
Book it as early as possible.
Do not book a whole package, you can book for a basic one which is 95 pounds and see how the result of the scan--if it is very good, you just add some money to buy a full service which is normally 170 or 160.
I asked my midwife about safety before I made an appointment and she said it won't harm the baby. You still need to check it with your midwife.

Oh, okay. All those scientists and doctors scratching their heads and spending millions on research and all we have to do is ask midwives.
What's wrong with waiting to see what your baby looks like when it's actually born?I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

4D scans take a much longer time to perform than regular dating and anomaly scans therefore increase the amount of radiation that a person is exposed too.
Dating and Anomaly scans have a purpose and are for the health of mother and baby. Unless medically necessary, then the average pregnant woman would have 1 or 2 scans lasting a few minutes.
4D scans are for pure vanity and can take up to an hour.
Unless you are 100% sure of the safety of a 4D scan (and they are still researching but iamana1ias provided a recent media link) then I think it is reasonable to ask why someone would subject their unborn child to unnecessary radiation.0
