You're quite right of course. Opinions are only allowed if they stroke people's opinions and tells them what they want to hear. It's part of the MSE love-in: a wonderful fluffy world where the only posts that are considered relevant are the sickly sweet 'there, there, it's going to be alright dear' type of posts, those that seek to apportion blame everywhere else, except towards the individual.

I really should have realised that by now.

Glad you agree, but why don't you stand back and open your mind before you open your mouth???
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

It's a shame that you did not just stick to giving your opinion/advice to the OP.

Have you noticed that he has not taken part in this thread recently - I wonder why?

Could it be that someone or some people have frightened him off? Not very MSE that.

And that's my final words on this thread.

Which is reason enough - if I ever heard one - for completely ignoring the government when it comes to making plans for your retirement.

Not interested in the state pension at all. Don't want it. Won't take it. !!!!!! them. I'm an adult human being, lucky enough to have been born in the west where opportunities for self-advancement abound. I can look after myself.

I'm not criticising you but you are extremely fortunate to be in that position. You must have had some lucky breaks. Not everyone is this fortunate - many folk have lost their jobs in this recession. You cannot really pat yourself on the back for being lucky.

    Now hold on. Hold on.

I'm chastised for making the reasonable assumption (based on the fact that he has an email address and is posting on a website and is obviously computer literate despite being in his sixties) that he has a PC, and yet you lot get away with the much bigger assumption that he hasn't been able to save for retirement in his 40-50 years of working life, based on no evidence whatsoever, except for the fact that he is currently on a low salary at the end of his career?

    I protest.

I wouldn't bother, you have already been judged??

  • Some of you should be ashamed of yourselves!

This chap has come on here looking for help..and all some people can do is make judgement and snide comments! What gives you people the right to judge anyone?!

This forum is to help each other with money issues, and friendship. That is all..

Incidentally, people only speak like this in an attempt to make themselves feel good. There is no making yourself feel better if you have a rotten personality!

I can't offer any financial advice but as you have a computer, I'm wondering whether you feel you could perhaps increase your skills in this area (perhaps by going to an Adult education evening class) to the point where you could possibly think about getting another job which would be less hard on you physically for a couple of years if you have no savings and can't afford to retire. There are various sedentary office jobs around which might pay an equivalent salary, or possibly part-time ones if you decide to hang on for a little longer. If you are currently paying into your company's pension scheme, and they are contributing too, then obviously it's advisable to continue with this if you can.

Why don't you even consider that you are too opinionated and biggotted to offer indiferrent advise.

You made NO suggesstions untill after several of your posts were removed for obvious reasons,

You could try to help people or butt out?? :T:T:T

In reply to the op I have said several things, mostly honest in that it is probably to late to act now, Ifr you have a problem with that then lets discuse?

Your colours have been nailed to the flag by your previous posts; as in "I struggled from the gutter, why can't you?"

A million and 1 reasons to follow.
