Wow. Four pages out of this five page thread are devoid of any input by the OP. Perhaps he ran away after all the helpful bickering amongst yourselves...

No, he's 64. Brisk walk at best ;)

!!!!!! sake please make it clear who you are replying to in your posts, then these misunderstandindings won't occour, shakes head emoticon required.

You are now posting opinionedated garbage.

And the reply, they can do it because they can???What plannet are you from??

They do it because people in the op's position don't have the substance that I and probably you have to complain. They do not have the right to treat old people like this.

Tell you what,, butt out, and post back in 10, 20 or whatever years when you are on the recieving end of this crap
No more from me as I do not need the last word, others can have that. So bloody sad :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

And I thought Bendix was OTT.

Yes you have my apology:), I had actually forgotten the question I had asked and I did assume (wrongly) it was in ref to the op.

    But getting back to the question which actually was how can the employer treat the op like this, which I'm quite sure is what the op meant;

They shouldn't but it happens. The best thing the OP can do is get out of there if he can. We now know more so it may be possible. I think that's been made clear.

It's shocking to expect an employee to be capable of doing a job! tut tut :D
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Read post #18 again and then in your words decide if you need to remove yourself just a little further from the gutter ??

Post 18 is a reply by Dawni to an earlier post by me in which I made two key points:

    1) How do posters know about the OP's earlier earnings history? That seems like a reasonable point to me.

    2) I find it very hard to believe that people with a 45 year working history never had the chance to save for the future.

I stand by both of them.

If you think those remarks deserve to be in the gutter, you're obviously a very sensitive wee soul,

As I find it hard to believe how someone with a 5 year working history gets themselves into £30k worth off debt.

Give the OP some slack as it was much harder in the past and no one knows the demographics.

I would hang in there until he was 65 or speak to a friendly GP for advice (check sick pay policy at said company and get signed off) I know this may not appeal to some people but what the hell.

I deduce from that you are about 20, fighting fit, probably sit at a desk all day and can only attempt humour by sarcasm??

An employer with one once of compassion cannot expect a 64 year old to run around like an 18 year old. Of course this is the fall down side of the age discrimination act, the employer sees it as a reason not to make allowances. :o:(

Oh, Bendix, yes I do have a sensitive side, unlike some that cannot see asituation from anywhere other than their own point of view.

Your comment, that no one could accept, that you can't believe the op has had no opportunity to save is purely based on your judgement of him and is totally unfair. I've had my say and will not reply to any more of your pompous judgements. You have the last word.

I must be the almost the only one here that actually has any sympathy for the op, no wonder he's disappeared. :o

You don't half like jumping to conclusions. How do you know even that the OP has talked to the company about moving or changing roles? There is nothing in any of his posts to suggest he has spoken to them. For all we know, he could just be sounding off.

Anyway, as purch suggested in a (now deleted) post. Given he's disappeared, it's highly likely it was a serious post anyway.

".....I must be the almost the only one here that actually has any sympathy for the op, no wonder he's disappeared......"

sympathy's not much good unless you can come up with real help.

"......An employer with one once of compassion ............"

Employers don't necessarily burden themselves with compassion, doesn't make a profit. Not saying it's right, but it just IS.

Some courtesy and politeness to someone asking a question, is that too hard to ask?
