Baby chair fell off wall in Tesco and no first aider in store

Hi I was wondering if anyone could give me help. My daughter was on a chair in Tesco Changing rooms when the chair fell off the wall my daughter has a couple of bruises on her but was shock up and crying at the time. But:mad: there was no First aider to treat my daughter in Store. The store is a 24 hour store so it’s quite big. I phoned customer services for a copy of an injured person's report that was filled in at the time but I haven’t received an apology letter or compensation. Can you let me know what the best way forward it please?

First aiders are not actually there for the customer, they are there to cover the staff. I am amazed however that in all their staff members they didn't have one first aid trained person?

What compensation do you actually want? If she only has a few bruises and the problem has been sorted then you've not 'lost' much have you?

Also they probably have not written to apologise because it could be seen as an admission of liability or as lots of larger companies are they could just be slow in processing paperwork

As you said it was just bruises, kids get bruises all the time, I did and my mum sued no one, if your DD was really injured you would have taken her to A+E, these things happen, get a life and no one owes you compensation maybe an apology, but that's it.

It's normally a separate first aid course for dealing with babies and children.

The staff would have done the 'First Aid at Work' course. Unless they have done either the 'Early years first aid course' or 'School First Aid' course they would not touch a child.

if the child required treatment they would either leave it to the parent to arrange or call an ambulance but that would be the limit of their involvement

Companies are prone to err away from first aid due to the potential liability if something goes wrong.

As for the rest. You want compensation for your child not sitting on a chair properly! Maybe tesco should sue you for not controling your child properly and the lost staff time as a result.
