I recently bought a Eurocyber small digital video camcorder whilst abroad. it takes pictures and video. It says it is Mpeg4 but the instructions are very brief and confusing. I want to be able to store the videos on the PC and play them back , as I do with my pictures. I am not good with all the technical jargon and have tried to make sense of advice on this site and others. Could someone tell me how to transfer the vidoes, where I store them and how I play them back. I need this in VERY plain English Please.

Not sure about how to do the transfer, does it have a usb connector?
You'll probably need to intall quicktime to play them back on the PC.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Yes it does have a usb connector. I have managed to store some videos on the PC.
When I try to use Quicktime the message reads:
Cannot open file PICT0004.MP4 because it is a file Quicktime does not understand.0 -
Which version of Quicktime do you have? It has to be 6.1 or later to view mpeg4.

I don't like Quicktime, as it comes with quite a lot of advertising etc...
I'd try this instead.

Ok downloaded DivX. Screen pops up "View list : Files to encode" and I try to add my videos. None of them seem to be recognised when I try to add them. Have I done something wrong in the way I have saved them? Please help this is becoming desperate.0

You need to find out which codec has been used by the camera to encode these files. You can't play them because you need to install this codec on your PC. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I agree you need a codec by the sound of it. You may be able to play it with a program that has codecs built in like vlc player
I know a friend of mine has a mpeg4 camera it took hiom ages to find the right codec but once installed the video was quite good quality although not quite as good as miniDV0 -
As above, you have not got the codecs installed.
Poppycat's suggestion is good. VLC the best media player out there.0 -
Do you have to buy vlc or is it free? The website is directing me to pay a membership.0

Its free ceewash and a great player along with zoomplayer, microsoft media player is utter rubbish in comparison and resource hungry, vlc uses less resources than all of them0
