Oooh been googling. That would put the southerly end of Bala lake about central to us. Let me know if you ever fancy venturing there for a days dog walking, its one of those places that I've driven through but never stopped at.

quick reply my battery is about to die and cant find the cable. Bala Lake is about an hour and 15 from me. It would be great to meet up some time. It is lovely there and I often stop off at the lake on route between my original home town in cheshire and here. I go back and too visiting. Noticed that you mentioned Cheshire Oaks on your diary so are you in NWales?

I am probably between Happy Valley and Strata Florida by the way. Aber side of the Dyfi.

  • I had to have a lie down in a darkened room after reading your planned intentions Cheri.

You both make me feel very guilty about the dog walking. My mad dog can't be trusted off the lead, I have beaches all around me, yet because he plays so rough with other dogs I can't take him down there. He has to make do with local fields and even then on the lead. I do feel for him because he is a joy to watch at full pelt.

Dont feel guilty DC, dogs are all very different. How so is he rough. Is it just that he is a very boisterous dog. Do you not have any friends who have quite placid dogs who can tolerate him. I tend to tell people to let their dogs off their leads because I find that more often than not once the dogs get the first bit of snarling and running mad out of the way they find their own levels and settle down. Max runs very fast and can be boisterous but he is a real wuss and if another dog wants to be dominant then he just rolls over, the dominant dogs are then quite happy to play with him because they know that they are the boss.

  • He is very boisterous, got many springer spaniel friends but he has a thing for their ears, plays far too rough.

Got lots of chilled out doggy walking pals too. It takes one unknown person with unknown dog off the lead and it's game over.

Had an incident with a huge husky (seems to be a lot of people taking these dogs on at the moment) last summer and it really did scare me. Fighting dogs are quite a terrifying thing to try and break up aren't they.

With lots of caravanning holidaymakers and their furry friends walking the beaches and fields it's too much to expect from him.

He wasn't really 'my' dog, was my late DH's and in the beginning I got a Dog Whisperer in. But he remains extremely protective. Which in all honesty isn't a bad thing.

But of course I wouldn't be without him. Who else would empty the bin all over to kitchen floor to get to that one morsel of uneaten sausage? Who else would try and eat the dyson/dustpan and brush, or even try and lick all the plates clean while I try and load the dishwasher...

:rotfl::rotfl: Oh but that sounds so familiar!. I had a cocker spaniel until a couple of years ago. He was just the right height for licking of dishes as they went into the dishwasher. He also perfected the art of opening all of the cupboards when I was out and pulling out the items until he found something he liked. I had to resort to putting all of the food items in a very high cupboard. I also had a GSD who was an angel, never did anything naughty except one Christmas I had bought one of those awful singing Santas for a laugh. I nipped to the shop one day and left it singing. I was only gone 10 minutes and when I got home the santas head had been ripped from his shoulders, he had then gone under the tree and pulled out a present that had been given to me. Opened it (I might add very carefully) and it turned out to be a box of chocolates. He helped himself to all of the soft centres but the funniest thing was that the hard centres he had licked off the chocolate and then spit them out. When I arrived home he was curled up in his bed looking like butter wouldnt melt. I couldnt help but laugh.

Last night when I was taking Moo to the beach he decided that he loved me so much he scooted up between the two front seats and started to nibble on my arm, when I asked him to stop he decided to lick my face. He never does that with me so I felt very loved indeed!

He is my very best friend and he has helped me through some of the darkest days of my life. i am sure that yours has done the same thing, and even though he was your OHs to start with I bet he is more in tune with you than you could imagine, after all you both lost your best pal and so you have both had to help each other. What a lovely idea to help him by getting a dog whisperer in. Moo is a star and despite owning dogs all of my life I dont think I have or ever will share my life with such a special fur friend as him.

I agree about fighting dogs. I know somebody who took on a husky and they said that they would never let them off the lead in the company of other dogs.

Right, I am procrastinating again and hanging around this place too much. The sun has decided t hide behind the clouds so my plan to spray paint the ottoman is looking dodgy. Just had a call from the woman who bought my table and chairs off ebay and she is heading over this afternoon to collect it. So that means another trip into town to the flat this afternoon. Oh well, I will take my book over there with me so that I can have a read. There isnt much work left to do in the flat. Not much clutter left to get rid of either so all I can do is sit and listen to the radio and read a book. Should be good.

Hi Cheri, just read a bit of your diary and it's exciting news about your possible voulntary redundancy! That's brave! I've just left a permanent job to go to one with a one year contract (mat leave) but it's a big wage rise so I'm going to save a buffer and it's a step up so decided to go for it.

I too live alone and love it Poles, wouldn't have it any other way. If George Clooney turned up today I'd have to say to him, 'We can have dinner and sex twice a week, but you're not moving in!'. My house is my sanctuary (only rented but I love it!) and so do all my friends. I'm very sociable and love to be busy but it has to be when it suits me too!

Hello Souk and welcome. Congratulations on the job, it sounds very exciting. Sometimes security in life can bring a bit of misery with it. I have decided that I am fed up of always being sensible. I think I am having a mid life crisis. It is very scary that I applied and I am not convinced that they will select me. I hear that a lot of people have put their names forward. I will be so disappointed if I dont get it considering that I made my mind up at the last minute. The more that I think about it the more I think it is right for me. I would love to be able to just pick up short contracting jobs.

Living alone has lots of advantages. I was married for 16 years before being on my own for a few years and I became so used to being on my own. Moving in with OH was a big move for me. He does work away a lot though so I have the best of both worlds. Love the idea of telling George you can have dinner and sex twice a week. I think if it was Robert Downey Jnr I might up it to say 3 times and perhaps he could stay over on the weekend! What kind of things do you get up to in your spare time to keep you busy. I have to admit to finding it hard with my job to find time to do any socialising and that is something I aim to address soon. I work from home and travel a lot so when I am not travelling then I just want to flop. All of the plans of groups and organisations that I was going to join just hasnt happened because I am usually arriving home late on the nights in question.

Well I think that it is time for todays

    TADA list
    • Watched the sun rise across the hills
    • took Moo to the forest and met with a few people and their pooches
    • made breakfast, ate it and washed dishes
    • made a malt loaf in the breadmaker
    • made some blueberry wheat muffins
    • hoovered
    • fed coco and played with him
    • listened to Desert Island Discs
    • Listened to Just a Minute
    • went to Mr Ms for a fresh fruit and veg
    • went to my flat for the lady to pick up the table and chairs
    • 2 loads of washing
    • washing on the line
    • one load of washing brought in and folded
    • sorted on shelf in the kitchen display cupboard so that I can put my champagne flutes in there
    • prepared baked potatoe and about to put it into the oven before heading off to the beach with Moo.

Off to the beach now. Bit miffed because Mr Fox neighbour and clan have arrived home from their holidays. Got back from the flat and there were five kids in my garden because the ranch fence is down for the new posts and there are no panels in the posts yet. Not very happy as they complained that the fox would attack their kids so I cant believe they are letting them into my garden with cement mixers and other heavy machinery around. Even more miffed because I was going to spray paint my ottoman tonight but I guess thats off the cards because they are sitting in their conservatory and will be watching me.

Might prime the spindles on the stairs when I come back from the beach as that would be one less job to do later in the week.

Ok, sun shining, so off to the beach. Will probably listen to the Proms as it is shostokovitch tonight and it starts at 6.30 when I will probably just finish the walk at the beach so I can sit in the car and listen.
