I know that but he seems a bit hurt by me wanting to keep my name (wheres that rolly eyes smiley) Its not that he has an awful name I just dont want to lose my name, Both of the girls have my name and I think he hopes we will all change our names to his. I think its a man thing as my brother, father and male friends say im a big meanie :p

I'm having my surname as my middle name once I'm married, have to do that by deed poll though.

I have 2 children who aren't OH's and we have a baby that does have OH's name, but when I'm married, I don't want the older 2 to feel 'left out' by having a different surname.

I didn't want a double barrelled name, so this is the next best thing, especially as I don't have a middle name anyway!

My best friend didn't want to change her name, her children have a double barrelled surname with both names, she told her dh she was willing to comprimise and be double barrrelled but he said no. So she stayed as she was, he stayed as he was and the kids are double barrelled.

When we get wed (Sep 2011) it will be 1 week short of us having been together for 10 years. I tried to get the exact date we met, but it was fully booked already!! OH proposed within 5 months of us meeting, I moved in with him at the opposite end of the country a month later and we've just plodded on since then. He always said he wanted to be married before he was 50 and before I was 40 - but we haven't had the inclination or the money!

Even though I want to marry him, I was actually terrified at the prospect - I thought it would be easier to walk away if we only lived together, but that's not really the right attitude is it? Even so, though we had set the date it still wasn't actually happening - it was all still a theory! Then I went and found a wedding dress and bought it - so we had to get married then didn't we!!! ;)

I am still nervous, but I know I'm also very happy and feel the time is right. Am looking forward to it, but am very indecisive about what I want - everything from flowers to food to....well everything!!!

ETA: I', not keen on his surname; it's very unusual and because he is divorced there is already one Mrs as she kept his name! But double barrelled would be ridiculous and confusing! Won't mention what it is as any Google search would throw up this thread!
If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.
