  • Can I recomend the Post Office phone and broadband?
I was a BT customer for 3 years and got such a shoddy service with mega slow broadband... They tried everything to get us to stay with them but I was put off more and more by each call and email.
The Post Office are friendly and reliable and we pay £25 per month for free evening and weekend calls, free calls on a loved ones birthday and unlimited broadband! Our broadband and my other halfs playstation have speeded up dramatically.

If Talk Talk ring you again... Put a report in to the TPS and they should sort it for you... I've been a member of that and MPS for years and rarely get unwanted calls and very little junk through the door.

    Hi Lirin,

If you register on the forum and post in the Speed and Web Browsing section we can investigate further into this for you.

shortchanged - Just to clarify if you are already with Tiscali the TPS registration wont stop marketing calls.

As you already have an agreement for marketing from the former Tiscali service (rebranded to TT) in order to prevent future marketing you would need to request this from us directly.

    Regards

  • Are you meaning truecall? I think theres another one aswell that i've seen mentioned but cant remember the name of it.

AFAIK, they use equipment - which is what you pay for.

BT have a service called choose to refuse where you can store up to 10 numbers which block them from contacting you, I think they get a dead tone. It still blocks the all even when the number is withheld or unavailable.

It used to be approx £7 a month/quarter can't remember which. I used to have the service when I was inundated with DCA phoning me. I've since changed my number so don't have the service.
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted:)

In your personal details section on talktalk website

I authorize TalkTalk to contact me by telephone N

    EDEH and UEI N

    Customer advertising flags

I wish to receive information about TalkTalk Group's other products and services. No

I am happy to receive information from carefully selected third parties NOT in the TalkTalk Group. No

That stops it if you are a customer. Talktalk have NOT made this easy to find in your account.

EDEH and UEI is (Enhanced DNS Error Handling) which suggests sites if the entered URL does not exist and UEI (Usage Exchange Initiative) which exchanges your anonymised usage data with a 3rd party for market research purposes.
  • And still the calls come in from these scum. Data Protection doesn't seem to bother them, what part of never call me don't they seem to understand, even though preferences are set that way.

Ah! Isn't there a service you have to pay for that supposedly blocks you from receiving cold calls, though? I must have confused that with the TPS. People airing their grievances with it made me think they must be paying for it and feeling hard done-by.

There is a machine you can buy that was on dragons den. You have to set it up but it then infuriates the callers whenever they come back as the machine knows its a number you dont want to answer and does it for you before the phone even ring
