That wastes more of their time than it does of mine. When I walk back to the phone 5 minutes later they have hung up :D

I like your style BLT, will be trying that for myself next time someone from India calls to try for the seventeeth time to sell me a warranty for my Sky box.

Last time I had a Talk Talk marketing call (I'm a customer of theirs as well), I asked the woman on the phone for a Communications Reference Authorisation Number (I meant to say a Communications Authorisation Reference Number), which stopped her in her tracks, at which point I hung up - no calls from them since then, so I just hope that keeps up.

I wouldn't be able to get my tongue round that.

I am not a customer of theirs and have never been and will never be at this rate.

Also my insurance is due on one of my cars and I've had loads of cold calling from insurance companies, they spend ages telling me how they have special offers at the moment and if I can just take two minutes of your time, an hour later and after having been past on to numerous companies all asking the same questions they still can't get anywhere near the quote from my existing company.
I do tell them what the quote is before they start but they just don't listen.

Tomorrow I'm going to ignore the phone because they're doing my head in.

Ah! Isn't there a service you have to pay for that supposedly blocks you from receiving cold calls, though? I must have confused that with the TPS. People airing their grievances with it made me think they must be paying for it and feeling hard done-by.

Are you meaning truecall? I think theres another one aswell that i've seen mentioned but cant remember the name of it.

AFAIK, they use equipment - which is what you pay for.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

We'd been with Tiscali for ages, as it was the best deal- since the merger with Talk Talk the service has descended rapidly.

Let me guess, Tiscali calls and 8Mb broadband, you were getting connection speeds around 5Mb+ which has now dropped to around 1Mb since TalkTalk took over and when you call up it's always blamed on your equipment? Close?

I'm moving to BT for phone and O2 for broadband, I would go to O2 for everything but it's complicated by being ona full LLU Tiscali line, currently you need to go back to a BT line first and they'll not do that without putting a 12 month contract in front of you.

I got a cold call from Talk Talk, and as the guy was launching into his spiel, just said (very politely), sorry, not interested and hung up. He rang me back two minutes later and told me what a rude person I was and that I should 'get a life'.
For the next three days, the phone rang, day and night - one at 3:00am in the morning - but no one was at the end of the line. However, I did the 1471 following the 3:00am call, got a number, and rang them back. I got through to an automated message saying something like 'This is Talk Talk, one of our advisors has tried to contact you, you do not need to do anything, we will call you back'.
I sent an email to Talk Talk complaints demanding to know why they were ringing me at that time in the morning. The calls stopped, but I never got a response from the company.

A couple of weeks later I had an (unrelated) Talk Talk rep at the front door, long story, won't bore you with it, but what he was doing was surely illegal!

Tbh, if they were the cheapest, fastest provider offering gold bars as an incentive, I would not touch them with a barge pole!

WHAT?! I would tell him to !!!! off. About the phone constantly ringing and no-one being there: It sounds like the little prat set some automated service up to constantly ring you.

    Hi All,

If any TalkTalk customer are experiencing marketing calls and wish to request removal from the marketing lists, if you register on the TalkTalk Members Forum (http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums) we can initiate this change for you.

For non-TalkTalk customers although you cannot register to participate on the forum if you use the Contact Us Email Form on the Members Site we can pick up and address these issues. IF you include your name address and contact number on the contact us submission we can ensure this is removed from marketing lists. This is likely contact resulting in consumers using the availability checker on the TT website and not specifying no marketing contact on the page.

The Marketing Opt-Out process can take upto 28 days to take effect.

    Regards

    lol- How'd you guess? :rotfl::rotfl:
Signed for 8mb with Tiscali, was only getting 6, router burnt out, replaced and checked free, and was told it would be sorted.. Now TT have the contract, we're getting around 1.5 average. Suddenly we've been told our phone line can't possibly support more than 2, despite living a few miles from the exchange.....

I'm sitting waiting at the moment for my local exchange to be upgraded so I can get one of the better deals around with Virgin or Sky.

Don't want to change at the moment as I'll be tied into some 12+ month contract for a similar product.

Had to laugh though as the other day I received an email from TT saying that I was about to be transferred over to them from tiscali but they have a special offer for me. For a 1 off £30 fee I can get a massive 40GB download limit (I currently have unlimited with Tiscali) and unlimited talktime (which I have already). Yes it is a little bit cheaper but it has an 18 month contract tie in!! Sounds like a bargain to me.
