Admiral Car Insurance

Hi all,

Been looking at various quotes and noticed Admiral do a 10 month bonus accelerator deal whereby you get your no claims discount 2 months early.

Only thing I can't find is whether that no claims is transferrable to another insurance company? Or are you then tied to Admiral?

Many thanks,

Matt

I think some other companies will honour the ten month scheme as 1 years' genuine NCD. I would avoid Admiral anyway, unless you can't afford anyone else.

Why would you avoid them? (They're who I'm with at the moment)

You only find out if an insurer is any good when you want some service for your money.

That's when people wish they had avoided them!

I'd never insure with a non-Admiral insurer. Have had to claim (non-fault) a couple of times and never had any problems with them.

Not going to read that. It's well known that people only ever tend to review if they aren't happy.

I've been insured by the admiral group since 1998 with no problems whatsoever.

I have to say, i have received very good service from Admiral following 2 claims 1 fault and 1 non fault in the last 2 years. I have found their claims handlers, even front line, to be knowledgable, and staff polite. Worst thing I had was a terrible courtesy car (Matiz - shudder) from the second approved repairer but that isn't their fault.

I would probably avoid any bonus accelerators because they arn't recognised by many other insurers.

I don't work for them or an associated company but I do work for a "rival" insurer.

It's entirely up to you - but the number of recent reviews about service when it comes to claiming are a concern. As well as we know they use Albany - and encourage their customers to go through Albany! (And you have to agree to them using recycled parts to repair your car if it's over 3 years old - not a lot of people know that)

I had to do a full year policy with Diamond as well before most other insurers would accept it as valid no claims. Some do accept it but you do need to declare it by checking with them first before you take the policy with the new insurer.
