Villa in spain

  • We've used owners direct, and have just booked with Lemon tree villas, a small company with villas in the Moraira/Costa Blanca area, run by an English woman, who rents out a select few properties (which are also advertised on holidaylettings.co.uk) feedback on the site looks positive, but as me, OH and our two friends don't go until September, I might be being premature! It was very reasonable though - 3 bedroom villa with huge pool and terraces, private garden, short walk into town £525 for the week between 4! - with no massive breakages deposit to pay or "end of hire" cleaning charge (which I've seen as high as 70euros!!). So there are bargains out there if you're prepared to hunt a bit.

    In my experience, it's best to contact via email when you enquire, and see how quick the owners response is and whether they include their phone number, then call them to "check them out" - I haven't had a bad experience yet. And we've rented villas in Mauritius, Rome, Moraira so far.

    Good luck, hope you find somewhere great to go!

    Another good site is www.holidayrentals.co.uk - have used them - good - again like you don't really do packages any more.
    Try them, never know.

    I've used ownersdirect too, but this is just a third party site & does then refer you directly to the owners or their agency if they have one. I have had very good experiences with several private owners via here, but I think you can tell from the tone of their first few emails if they are professional & trustworthy. Ask a few questions and make sure they are helpful & polite - if not, choose another one! There are usually reviews of the accomodation too.

    If you are concerned about scams, this post also offers some advice;
