All is well after using rescue download, but the keyboard will not work unless I uninstall and reinstall.
Message says that windows cannot install as on previous memory(I think code 38) but after restarting keyboard is fine.
This does not always work and I have to repeat several times.
Advice appreciates. Thanks. Iam using Windows XP.

    Code 38
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)

    Recommended resolution

The driver could not be loaded because a previous instance is still loaded. Restart the computer.

    Use the Troubleshooting Wizard

If you have not already run the Troubleshooting Wizard, do so now.
    1. On the device Properties dialog box, click the General tab.
    2. Click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard. The wizard asks you some simple questions and provides a solution to your problem based on the answers that you provide.
    3. Follow the resolution steps provided by the wizard to resolve the problem.
    Restart your computer

Click Start, click Shut Down, and then select Restart in the Shut Down Windows dialog box to restart the computer.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled via the troubleshooter and restarted many times. This usually solves the problem but when I switch on again same problem. If I click on no to the question at the end of troubleshooter instructions that the problem has not been solved, I have a message to say Windows cannot help further!

I have never been able to access safe mode.
Each time I switch on I open add hardware in Control Panel which troubleshoots and ends with code 38 message. I then restart and keyboard is fine until I Shutdown and repeat the process all over again.

    Ill reiterate ~

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM QUICK SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
If anything was found then do the exact same but run a FULL scan

    reboot

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin)

Even with your altogether dodgy copy of XP, you should still be able to boot up in Safe Mode.

If you still fail in this regard, put all four versions of Rkill(another here)(include the eXplorer and iExplore options) as well as Malwarebytes' AntiMalware on to a USB drive. Start up your machine and run the version of Rkill that works on your PC. Chances are that the .exe version will not work. Once you have found a version that works, you may be able to install, update and run a Quick Scan with Malwarebytes. Once completed, 'Remove Selected' and Re-boot. Open the program, go to 'Logs' and post the .txt log here. Then run a Full Scan and repeat.
