    No. You need to tax the car before you drive it out of the garage if you want to be legal.

    When we have bought from a dealer they have always sorted out the Tax Disc without us having to prove insurance or anything.

    beware - if you tax tomorrow the tax date will be back-dated to the first of the month so you will effectively be paying twelve months tax for 11 months !!!

    Although the OP will have to pay for all of July, it won't be possible to tax it tomorrow (28th) if the cover note says this:
