If they're not 'police' cones, just regular ones, phone the council's transportation department and ask 'why have you got cones out on (road name) and how long will they be there?'

    OR

TELL the council that their workmen left some cones behind after working on (road name) and ask when they're going to collect them....

I leave two cones out on the road infront of my dropped kerb. its probably strictly illegal but it stops households with 2 or 3 cars or one household with 5 cars (including visitors every weekend) from hogging all the space and obstructing the traffic. They should thank me.

    I digress.

How dare they park their cars on a public highway. Shooting's not good enough for them.

We use a cone outside our house, but it is a marked, allocated, deeded (so owned) space in a housing development on a private road.

One of the neighbours tried this on the private road outside their front door which WASNT their allocated space (their space was round the back). They even left Snotty notes when people moved their cone and parked there... But they eventually got the message...

As they were doing it in front on their garden I would agree but if it is infront of a dropped kerb I assume it menas his car is on the driveway and potentially blocked in.

If somebody is ignorant enough to block somebones driveway then I have no problem with that someone making it harder for them to park.

I thought it was illegal to park in front of a dropped kerb, which is what dboswell seemed to be having trouble with...

EDIT: Nope, google says that parking in front of a dropped kerb isn't illegal, but the Highway Code says don't do it. Some people are so rude. I would never dream of parking in front of someone's driveway and blocking them in or out!

Someone used to leave cones out near my parent's house so purposely parked my car right outside their house to annoy them.

I'm an awesome neighbour, but then I don't live there anymore!

    Huzzah!

Covered under the highways act. They are potentially committing a criminal offence. The police should give them a talking to and remove the cones. They may prosecute if they offend persistently.

....and I've just realised what a dropped kerb is.

Sorry for that - come to think of it is rather rude to park your cars there!
