Traffic Cones?

Hi, I live on a main A road which has limited parking (one-side is double yellow lines) My neighbours across the road (side without yellow lines!) have suddenly started putting 5 police traffic cones out onto the road in front of their flats - to put off anyone daring to park their! Can someone tell me if this is legal (I'm pretty sure it isn't!) I don't want to have a stand up row but I'm being left with no where to park! What are my options apart from moving! Do I contact the traffic police (the cones have police marked on them) or the local council? Any help would be good

Hi I don't think you've posted on the right board, maybe try on the parking tickets, etc board for an answer.0

I don't know the legal ins and outs of this kind of thing but would reccommend checking with the local council.0
-
If it was me, I would wait until they put the cones out and phone the police - you don't even have to give your name.0

public highway is just that.
There may be an event in the area if they say "police". Give the fuzz a call.0 -
No one has any more right than anyone else to parking on the public highway outside their house/flat. However, pinching police parking cones is an offence... Move 'em, assuming you are absolutely sure they are being put there by the residents.0

Or move the cones0

If the road is unrestricted, ie no yellow lines, residents' parking, meters, disabled bays or pay and display machines then basically anyone can park there at any time. The only time you would normally get a parking ticket on an unrestricted road is if you were causing an obstruction.
Your neighbours have no right to put cones out. You have just as much right to park there as they have.0 -
You need to ring the local cop shop and ask them the perfectly innocent question..."Why have you put a load of cones out along xxx street, and how long will they be there for?"0

Thanks for the confirmation - If they appear tomorrow I'll ring the local police station,

And do report back please.
Who knows there might be a "fun" outcome0
