I think that anyone who can make anything like this is really clever! I couldn't make those figures to save my life! So well done!
While I do love these toppers, I've ordered one for our cake, I do prefer them to look a little cuter. I hope I don't offend you, but they have kinda square heads. I hope that it's the angle that the pic is taken at as I really don't want to sound nasty. I just think that round heads and softer shaped bodies are 'cuter'. I agree with maggie111 about the arms also.
I paid £38 including p&p for the one I've ordered so would say that anything around £40 is a good price.

Is that a FIMO clay thing one you have ordered for that price? The only ones I have seen for less than £50ish have been sugarcraft things.
Do you mind me asking where from please? :)

Think they are fab paulabear! I haven't seen many cake toppers, but think they look great 'out of proportion', I'd have thought they would be more of a talking point, being a bit less 'perfect', funny even. Have seen wedding cakes with characters that look 'strange'!

I think they are brilliant! I like cariacature versions better than life like and these would fit the bill perfectly!

I ordered a 'gold' topper from boogiebabies. They are made from clay. £30 for the topper, £8 p&p. One of the real brides in this month's wedding ideas has one too! :)

Fab! Thanks, have bookmarked the site. I really want one but they are so dear! But I think at £30/40 ish could be a go-er :D

not meaning to sound rude but it is difficult to say how good they are without knowing what the people look like for real if that makes sense. i remember ones that my friend did in a similar style to yours and while they were good, i didn't appreciate just how good until i saw a pic of the happy couple. i think you have a great creative talent but cannot compare their worth without all the detail..

Really good of you all to take the time to reply, thank you so much. The criticisms - all of the ones you mention are things which have occurred to me and it's good to have them confirmed as these are obviously things I need to change. The praise - well that's always appreciated! As for whether they look like the people they represent; I made another one before this one which was used at a friend's wedding - she said that everyone was impressed by the likeness. I'd upload a pic of the bride-to-be but don't think she'd appreciate it! I can however show you something else I did -

-this is something I did for my grandma's birthday; it's my kids in clay. The photo of my kids is the best I can find of all three of them, sorry!

-really glad I posted this thread now, it's been a great help, thank you all :)
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

Ooo I like, agree with the comments about the male as he does look a 'bit' out of shape, but love the kids one!! You selling them??
